I know there are people who don’t even watch the Oscars but I just love them. To begin with, I’m a huge movie fan. I love listening to the speeches, seeing clips from all the movies, and even the lifetime achievement awards usually bring me to tears. But when you combine that with the glamour of the red carpet, well, it makes for a pretty perfect night of TV watching for me! I call the Oscars “My Super Bowl!”
And because I live for that red carpet stuff, I am always eager to see who wears what on Hollywood’s biggest night of the year. Personally, I thought there were not quite as many gorgeous dresses this year as in some years past, but the ones I’m including on this list definitely hit it out of the park. So, in no particular order, here are the 7 women I thought were the best dressed of the night…..
LOVED this amazing Oscar de la Renta gown on Brie Larson. Pure gorgeousness!
This slinky metallic Prada gown is stunning on Teresa Palmer. I love the earrings and the delicate art deco belt. Perfection!
No list would be complete without the belle of the ball, and winner of the best actress award, Emma Stone. I always love her style and this night was no exception. She’s wearing a 1920’s inspired gold dress by Givenchy.
This dress is so beautiful – like a Grecian Goddess! And the jewelry is perfect, too. Karlie Kloss wearing Stella McCartney.
Taraji P. Henson looks stunning in this Albetto Ferretti blue velvet dress and diamonds. So classic.
Chrissy Teigen wearing Zuhair Murad. The back of this dress has the most amazing attached cape.
This dress is very unusual, and I have a feeling it’s a love it or hate it kind of thing. I have to say I loved it! I love the floaty, almost ethereal feeling of it. Hailee Steinfeld in Ralph & Russo.
It’s also fun to see some of the Oscar dresses from years past. If you want to compare some of your favorites and see what mine were from the last couple of years, here are 2014 and 2016 (not sure why I didn’t do it in 2015?! So odd!) I actually feel so badly I’m thinking I should go back and write one! And leave a comment here telling me your favorites! I’d love to know if you agree or disagree (or if I’ve missed a good one!)
Have a great week!
