Hi friends and welcome to the second month of our new Simply Home Series! We’re excited to bring you different ideas and tips each month, and this month we’re talking decor. More specifically, decorating with texture and the textures we love to use in our homes. (You can see last month’s post all about organizing by clicking here).
I know some of you are still in the midst of full-on winter. But I also know that around this time every year I start thinking about spring, so I imagine it’s the same for a lot of you!
Spring decor, spring blooms, garden planning, and sunshine are starting to bubble up in my imagination. And though it’s too early to do much garden planning yet (mine is a bare mess right now!), it’s not too early for some simple spring styling with a few flowers and some vignettes in the kitchen!
Every year Pantone releases their much-anticipated “Color of the Year,” and this year, they’ve picked Classic Blue! There’s been a lot of talk about it ever since the release last month, both for and against. Pantone’s official statement says that it “reflects our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.” And decorating with blue is clearly very popular these days.
Every year I like to create a romantic (but easy!) Valentine’s Day table setting. You see, my husband and I never go out on Valentine’s Day. In fact, I would guess that we haven’t actually gone out on that date in about 15 years!
We found that it was always crowded and the service was incredibly slow. So our solution has been to spend a romantic evening at home enjoying a delicious meal and a nice bottle of wine! (Presents aren’t frowned upon either 😉 )
When I shared my post last week about cozying up around the fire during the winter, I got a few people emailing me and asking about some of the details in the living room! So since you all were interested in my winter living room, I thought I’d talk winter decor ideas and what I do to banish the winter blues (decor-wise that is!)
Happy New Year friends! Are you a person who makes New Year’s resolutions, or looks back over the year as a whole? I do love the idea of taking a look at the past year ~ an inventory of sorts ~ both personally and professionally. Not just to make resolutions (though I do that, too), but also to see what worked and what didn’t here at Maison de Cinq. When it comes to the blog, I have the advantage of being able to look at analytics and see what you all liked best. And to be honest, my Top Ten Posts always surprise me – at least a little!
