Happy “Almost Summer” everyone! Are you getting as excited as I am for some warmer weather and the relaxation that summer brings? I love all the seasons, but there is just something about the carefree, lazy days of summer that I adore. It’s almost as if we all take a collected sigh of relief, and the whole world feels just a little bit lighter. And that’s the vibe I’m going for with my Summer Home Tour this year – lighter, brighter, and relaxing!
A subject I’ve talked about before is how essential I think it is to add art to your decor. In fact, I wrote a whole post on the importance of it, especially if you’re trying to get a more “collected” look. But something I really love, is finding art in unexpected places. Like the kitchen. And believe it or not, the bathroom. Art in the bathroom is one of my absolute favorite ways of using it, and I’m glad to see it’s a trend that is becoming more common!
It seems like peonies are literally everyone’s favorite flower! And I’m not surprised. Because really, is there a prettier bloom out there?! Something about their fluffy beauty just makes my heart skip a beat! And I’m sure the fact that they are here for only a couple of weeks makes them that much sweeter. I wait for 50 weeks for them to appear and then buy them like crazy for two!
Are you all getting excited for summer? I know I definitely am! Lately I’ve been trying to clean up and refresh our outdoor space in the backyard. Spring gets me so excited to have bar-b-ques, swim parties, and revel in the freedom that summer seems to bring. In the spirit of that, our blogging group is talking “outdoor spaces” in our monthly blog hop this month!

Have any of you been planning on refreshing or re-doing your plants this spring? I don’t know about you, but around this time of year I get so inspired to do a “backyard refresh!” Did you know that one of the easiest and least expensive ways to refresh any outdoor area is to plant some beautiful annuals or perennials? For us, the area we use most is our backyard patio. Not only do we entertain our guests there, we spend time swimming and enjoying that area frequently so I really wanted to add some colorful details to brighten the space!
I’m sure you’re familiar with these bottles, even if you didn’t actually know the name for them. Antique demijohns have grown immensely popular in the last several years. So much so that reproductions abound. You know when the chain stores start copying them that they have morphed into a full-fledged trend!
