I’ve always gravitated to the crisp, clean match-up of black and white. I absolutely love it in fashion, having talked about it in both this post and this one. It’s a pairing that I wear all the time, and probably would wear every day if I could! And now I find I’m gravitating to black and white kitchens, too. Maybe it’s having recently finished the renovation of this kitchen with touches of black that’s re-inspired my love for it. Or it could just be the fact that I’ve always loved it; I even decorated my first apartment in the combo. Whatever the reason, I’m definitely feeling an affinity for black and white kitchens these days!
I’m a little late in coming around to the animal hide trend. For a long time it didn’t speak to me; I guess I wasn’t entirely comfortable with it. But I must confess, it has slowly grown on me! Decorating with animal hides can not only look luxurious, but it also brings much needed texture to a room (something that is often missing in interiors). I’m especially drawn to a zebra or cheetah print rug layered over another natural fiber rug underneath. So chic!
Happy Friday everyone! If you’re a regular reader, you know that on Fridays I usually do a “Friday Favorites” post, however, I have something special to share with you! Instead, I’m joining some blogging friends to bring you a Room Transformation blog hop! And if you’re coming here from Meme Hill, welcome. We hope that our stories of renovating, re-doing, or simply refreshing a space will inspire you and give you ideas for your own homes!
I know I’ve always said I’m a ‘white kitchens only” girl. Don’t worry – that’s still true! White kitchens will always have my heart. However, I thought some of you might be getting a little tired of seeing only white kitchens, so I thought I’d explore another look that I also really like. And that’s grey and white kitchens. Sometimes it’s grey cabinets in part of the room, a grey island, a grey hood, or grey walls, but the mix of a soft grey with white is so beautiful! And for me, they still count as “white” kitchens because these aren’t predominantly grey. They’re a wonderful mix of the best of both colors. They’re mostly white kitchens with just a touch of grey, and they’re gorgeous!
Happy “Almost Summer” everyone! Are you getting as excited as I am for some warmer weather and the relaxation that summer brings? I love all the seasons, but there is just something about the carefree, lazy days of summer that I adore. It’s almost as if we all take a collected sigh of relief, and the whole world feels just a little bit lighter. And that’s the vibe I’m going for with my Summer Home Tour this year – lighter, brighter, and relaxing!
A subject I’ve talked about before is how essential I think it is to add art to your decor. In fact, I wrote a whole post on the importance of it, especially if you’re trying to get a more “collected” look. But something I really love, is finding art in unexpected places. Like the kitchen. And believe it or not, the bathroom. Art in the bathroom is one of my absolute favorite ways of using it, and I’m glad to see it’s a trend that is becoming more common!
