It’s been so long since I’ve written about fashion, so I felt like a summer fashion post was in order today! And what’s more summery, than swimsuits?! I don’t know about you, but they are not my favorite thing to shop for or buy. However, a black swimsuit is my secret weapon! Trust me, you can’t go wrong with one.
Today’s post is a special one that I’ve never done before, and I’m excited to share it with you! Lisa of Shine your Light, Kris of Driven by Decor, Pam of Simple Details and Jennifer of Dimples and Tangles do a Five Favorite posts every month and they always ask a guest blogger to contribute. This month is all about Summer Essentials, and I was thrilled that they asked me to join them! Summer is definitely a favorite season of mine, and I love that I get a chance to share my favorite summer essentials with you.
As I’m sure you know by now, I’m a bit of a Francophile 😉
I love French interiors, and I consider my home to be at least somewhat French-inspired. But along with French decor and design, I also love French style! And when I say French style, I don’t mean Fashion Week in Paris or Coco Chanel, though those are fun, too. No, I’m talking the chic, everyday style of fashionable French women.
This spring, stripes are everywhere. From the classic French black and white tees, to bright striped dresses and tops, to cute, flowy pants. Just like gingham, they are one of my absolute favorite spring trends. They look crisp and fresh, even when the weather warms up. They’re timeless, practical, classic, and easily wearable. And how many things can we say that about?
As far as fashion trends go, we all know history seems to repeat itself. And gingham is a trend that seems to recur frequently in spring. I’m not sure if that’s always been true, but for the last few years it definitely has. And I can see why! Is there anything fresher, or happier, than gingham? It’s inherently cheerful and crisp (just like spring!) and it has timeless appeal.
Do you watch the Oscars? I must confess I’m a die-hard fan. I’ve been watching it every year as long as I can remember. The whole show is something I look forward to every year, but I especially love what my husband calls the “pre-game show,” otherwise known as the Red Carpet!
