I’m so excited to finally be sharing this post with you today! Not because of the topic, though I do love organizing. But because this is the start of a new series here at Maison de Cinq and something we’ve been planning for a few months now!
Do you struggle to keep your home neat and tidy? Do you feel like you’re always playing catch up, or that everyone you live with is sabotaging your desire for a clean home?
Well, I’ve often felt the same way! So today I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite cleaning tips. The ones that help me keep everything looking “good enough” so that I don’t go crazy. Over on Instagram I get a lot of questions and comments on how clean my home is. Compliments telling me how clean it looks, and also questions like, “how do you keep it so clean?”
I’m sure we all have cabinets and closets in our homes that are disorganized, and I am no exception. My large built-ins in my family room have been in pretty bad shape for awhile now, and one of my resolutions for the New Year was to start organizing the cabinets again! Last summer I shared the re-styling of the shelves with you, but now it was time to tackle the inside!
It’s that time of year! The holidays are here, which for many of us means entertaining. Not only hosting various parties, get togethers, or dinners, but if you’re like me, out-of-town guests are also a part of the season.
Of course, when guests come I always want the house to be clean. Washing sheets and re-making beds and the like are part of it, but I also like to make sure my floors are absolutely clean. We have many friends (and some family members) who are allergic to dogs, so I like to make sure that my floors are clean and fur free. So today I thought I’d share some holiday cleaning tips for getting your floors as clean as possible!
As I’m sure some of you remember, we installed the hardwood floors in our living and dining rooms only about a year and a half ago. We had wall to wall carpet (ugh!) until then, and I’d been dying to change them. And I have to say, it’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever done! You can see the full reveal of them here.
One of the things that I’ve focused on over this last year is really nailing down my neutral palette, and changing the things that don’t fit within it. And one of the things on my very long to-do list was to style the book shelves in my family room. These shelves are big and dominate the whole room, so their effect on the room is significant. I actually re-styled them once before (you can see that post here), and it was my highest read post of 2016!
