Something I was recently turned onto is preserved boxwood topiaries. These are not the plastic, fake topiaries that don’t look real, oh no, these are hand made from real boxwood plants and are specially treated to retain their deep green color. They even have a faint hay-like smell that makes them seem more natural than just a plastic topiary. I have only had two fake (plastic) topiaries in my life and I had recently thrown them out, vowing to go only “real” from now on.
Vintage jewelry is so beautiful and something I have always loved. And though I have a fair amount of vintage chains, some lockets and old watch fobs, only recently did I discover the beauty of Chanel vintage jewelry, in particular. After seeing some in an antique jewelry store in Santa Barbara a couple of years ago, I have been oohing and aahing over photos of my Chanel love on Pinterest ever since. Though I look at both necklaces and bracelets, it is the bracelets that have really captured my heart.
I have become completely obsessed with the spring trend of pleated skirts. It all started with my 805 Living spread that I worked on in February. I put the model in an Alice + Olivia hot pink chiffon pleated maxi skirt, and though that skirt is totally inappropriate for my life, I loved it!
I have to admit that I have a bit of an obsession when it comes to candles! I buy a lot of them, and not always successfully. Often I like the smell, but when I get it home, it doesn’t seem to really permeate or I can barely tell it’s burning. Or even worse, it’s overpowering enough to cause a headache! And since some of them are quite pricey, it can be frustrating (I’ve thrown quite a few in the trash, I can tell you that!)
I’m in love with Hunter rain boots, and have been for quite awhile. I first fell in love with them when I saw them on several celebrities and fashion bloggers a few years back. However, seeing as we don’t normally get a ton of rain here in California (and the last few years, hardly any!), I could never really justify the expense. However, I guess I coveted them for so long that my husband felt badly for me, so he bought me some for Christmas this year! I can’t tell you how excited I am!
I’ve decided to do a post every Friday called “Friday Favorites.” I have always loved the weekly posts that some of the blogs I follow do, and I’d like to try to do the same here. I thought that every Friday I would simply post something that I like and want to share. I’ll mainly focus on home decor and fashion, featuring items or trends that I love or that speak to me. And I’d love your opinion! Let me know what you’re interested in seeing, and please give me feedback on what you’ve liked or not liked.
