Red isn’t a color that works well in most areas of my house as all the blues and greens really throw it off. But since my kitchen is white, I can definitely do it in this room. In fact, one of the things I like best about a white kitchen is the fact that I can decorate easily for every season. Everything goes with white!
First, I added a few things that just say winter to me, with the primary one being pinecones. They’re appropriate at Christmas, obviously, but I feel like they cross over into “winter decor” as well. In addition, I changed the baskets in front of my mantel and added my vintage French demijohn.
I know I’ve said this before (I know!) but I love fall so much! And the last couple of years, I’ve found myself drawn to a more neutral fall decor palette. And since I have to do my Christmas decorating a little earlier this year due to my blog hop coming up, I wanted to touch on fall and Thanksgiving for just a little while longer. At least for this week! After that, I might be forced to give in…
Welcome to my fall home tour, and if you have come over from Fox Hollow Cottage, hello and welcome! I am so excited to be participating in the Autumn’s in the Air blog hop with eleven of my very favorite bloggers. Each of us is featuring some of our favorite things for Fall. Some are doing tablescapes, some are doing a room or two, and some a full fall home tour. I think you will see some very beautiful and inspiring spaces as these girls are good!
When my friend Summer from She Leaves a Little Sparkle asked me to participate in her summer blog hop featuring how to mix vintage decor with new, I knew I had to join in! If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you know mixing vintage and new is not only something I do personally in my own home, but it’s a tenet I firmly believe in with regards to decorating. In fact, I spoke about it as one of the most important things you need to do to get the “collected, not decorated” look in my series Collected Look Essentials.
Since spring isn’t quite like Christmas, with access to so many decor items, I tend to keep it pretty simple. I adore white flowers, and I try to have them as a focal point. I especially love the crisp green of the leaves mixed with the bright white flowers.
