When I was a kid, we had a fire in our fireplace quite frequently, and warm and cozy winter nights by the fire were some of my favorite memories. So when we moved here and finally had a wood-burning fireplace of our own, I couldn’t wait until it got cold enough to light a fire!
Happy New Year friends! Are you a person who makes New Year’s resolutions, or looks back over the year as a whole? I do love the idea of taking a look at the past year ~ an inventory of sorts ~ both personally and professionally. Not just to make resolutions (though I do that, too), but also to see what worked and what didn’t here at Maison de Cinq. When it comes to the blog, I have the advantage of being able to look at analytics and see what you all liked best. And to be honest, my Top Ten Posts always surprise me – at least a little!
As I’m sure a lot of you know, I’m a candle lover! Candles are something I adore, and I almost always have one burning in the house. I love how they can warm up a space just with their scent. They can convey a feeling, a mood, or even a season. Truthfully, I can never have too many!
If you’ve been a follower or subscriber of mine for any length of time, then I’m sure you know I’m a long time fan of designer Brooke Giannetti. I’ve featured her designs in the pages of Maison de Cinq many times, and I was an early reader of her popular blog, Velvet & Linen. During the time, I followed the building of her dream home, Patina Farm, lapping up each post detailing the process. Hers was one of the first blogs I ever followed, and to say she’s been an inspiration is an understatement. She is probably the single biggest influence on my style, and definitely hands down my favorite designer.
I’m sure we all have cabinets and closets in our homes that are disorganized, and I am no exception. My large built-ins in my family room have been in pretty bad shape for awhile now, and one of my resolutions for the New Year was to start organizing the cabinets again! Last summer I shared the re-styling of the shelves with you, but now it was time to tackle the inside!
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season, and that you got the chance to relax and recharge – at least a little!
After the absolute craziness of the season I like to sit back and take a look at the year as a whole. Not just the ups and downs of my personal life, though I do that too, but it’s also fun to take a look at Maison de Cinq. What post did the best? And what resonated with you, my readers, the most? And today, I’m joining some blogging friends who are also sharing their top posts of the year.
