Charming & Cheerful Summer Table Setting
Are you looking for cheerful summer table setting ideas? This charming, sunshiny table featuring summer flowers and pops of yellow will bring a smile to your face!
Certain colors are associated with summer; bright pink flowers and blue skies are two that come to mind. But one color that reminds me of summer more than any other is yellow. It’s bright and cheerful and oh-so-summery!
I’ve never created a summer tablescape with yellow before, but when I found some chamomile at the grocery store I knew I wanted to create a table with them. Chamomile are one of my favorite summer flowers – it doesn’t get much more cheerful than a vase full of these happy little yellow and white flowers!

This colorful table would be perfect for any summer gathering, from a casual lunch, to a wine and cheese night, to an easy bbq night with friends.
Simple little votives are my favorite candles to use, especially on a summer table! You can load them up without blocking any views or conversation which makes them perfect for a summer table setting where people might be lingering all night.
And of course, eating al fresco is optional, but doesn’t everything taste better outdoors in the summer?
The runner is a sweet little yellow ticking stripe, and I layered that over a nubby natural one to give it a little more texture. I love the farmhouse charm it brings to the setting!
Yellow and white striped napkins tie in the runner. I used twine as a ‘napkin ring’ and tied the flatware with the napkins to create a more casual look.
And the placemats are probably my favorite part of the table setting! I love the linen look and the bright yet relaxing vibe they bring to the table. (and it comes in a cute runner too!)
These dishes are so cute! The set comes in both white and yellow as well as a few other colors. I love the farmhouse style and they feel heavy and substantial.
I layered a yellow salad plate on top of a white dinner plate and layered those over a white rattan charger. How cute are these chargers? My exact ones are sold out, but these are very similar or there’s a square version of mine here. I love the texture and the fact that they’re white means they’ll be so versatile for all kinds of tables!
The centerpiece is really what set the tone for the whole table. I combined the sweet chamomile with white hydrangeas and some eucalyptus for a casual chic vibe. These summer flowers make me so happy! 🙂
This glass pedestal vase is perfect for a clean and simple look. And the good news is, any flowers look good in it!
Pops of yellow and lots of summer flowers make for a cheerful, summer table setting that couldn’t be easier to create!

The chargers in white rattan is a fresh take — something I would not have considered. Your tablescape is inviting and unpretentious. Love the pale palette juxtaposed with roughly-textured table and chairs. Makes me want to serve cucumber sandwiches and citrus-lavender shortbread cookies! Thanks, Sheila, for the lovely inspiration.
What a lovely comment – thank you so much Char!! And that’s a good idea! Maybe I should make that my next outdoor menu! 😉

Love this. Yellow is one of my favorite colors…this color of yellow, not that screaming yellow Pantone color that was declared the color of the year…and this is so welcome right now when everyone seems to feel obligated to haul out those horrid primary colors for the holidays. Not sure what the solution is, but I really have trouble decorating for the patriotic holidays just because I am almost repulsed by red and blue. I guess a yellow and white flag just wouldn’t cut it. Thanks for sharing!
I couldn’t agree more – screaming yellow is not my favorite either. Well, I like everything on the softer side to be honest! 😉
Maybe you could do a softer red and blue table? Or neutrals? I saw a great patriotic table on Pinterest that used flags with neutral stars and stripes and it was so cute!
Thanks so much for your kind words and for stopping by!
