Chic French Country Home Tour
This French country home tour blends rustic and traditional elements to create a chic yet approachable vibe.
If you’ve been here awhile then you know that in the past I’ve featured a few home tours by designer Brittany Jones. Well, today you’re in for a treat with yet another one of her beautifully decorated homes.
While this home skews slightly more traditional, it’s far from stuffy. Aged stone, brick, and antique doors make it feel grounded, not intimidating. It’s the perfect mix of rustic and refined French style.
This home features 5 bedrooms, 4 1/2 bathrooms, and two laundry rooms, all on over an acre. Located in the heart of West Texas, it was built by Edge Homes for the Parade of Homes, and designed by Brit Jones Design.
The gorgeous shutters that adorn the front of the home are rough cedar painted in Annie Sloan Duck Egg Blue and made to look weathered. Love this color so much!
The stair railing is a custom design.
I love the mix of the brick backsplash with the white marble countertops in this beautiful kitchen. Traditional caned counter stools bring French style to the space.
The custom kitchen hood is made out of cast stone and was carved in place. Wow!
I love the casualness that the dark lanterns bring to the space.
The gorgeous dining room features a mix of French chairs, as well as a stunning chandelier and custom French blue draperies.
The great room has 25′ foot ceilings and a custom cast stone fireplace.
The blue rug in the great room is absolutely gorgeous!
In the powder room, Brittany repurposed a vintage desk to create the vanity. Love that idea! And the vessel sink and patterned tile make the small space extra charming.
The upstairs landing features a settee, framed botanicals, and a reproduction Mora clock. This space really speaks to me!
The guest bedroom features an upholstered headboard, as well as gorgeous bedding.
The guest bathroom countertops are honed marble.
The primary bedroom is really a showstopper! It features a vaulted ceiling with a custom wood ceiling treatment which adds so much to the space!
This sitting room in the master might be my favorite space in the whole house. I actually have that same bench in my cart as I’m determined to use it somewhere. Love!
And behind these amazing antique French doors lies the master bathroom!
And the master bathroom!! This custom quadruple groin vault ceiling is truly stunning, and the pink velvet ottomans add a unique touch of femininity.
Honed white marble and relaxed roman shades add to the serene and inviting space.
The mudroom and adjoining laundry room are painted the most beautiful shade of soft blue!
I adore a brick floor in a laundry room!

I am sorry to tell you that this house may be well decorated, but… it is how an American would think of France. First of all, looking at the exterior of the house I could not find anything elegant. Secondly, there is nothing that gives to the viewer the image of a well and long lived home. it is too professionally decorated that misses the point of country house.
Yes, I agree with that. This is definitely an Americanized version of France! But I do still love the woodwork (especially the ceiling treatments), and adding the stone, aged brick, and old French doors help it look less ‘new.’
Don’t forget, this was staged for the Parade of Homes and as such, did not have a family living in it yet which is why it feels more like a model home in these photos. I would assume whoever lives there now put their own homey spin on it!
