Today’s Inspiring Home Tour incorporates a modern coastal farmhouse style to create a light and bright (and gorgeous) family home!
I’m thrilled to be sharing my friend Jamie’s house with you today! Jamie is a mom and blogger and lives outside Birmingham, Alabama with her husband and two boys.
Nestled in the hills on three acres of land, this modern coastal farmhouse style home was a recent build that they designed from the ground up.
I love this classic farmhouse porch, complete with rockers!
The lovely French front doors let in lots of light, setting the tone for the whole home.
Jamie says that a house should evoke welcoming feelings for those entering through the doors. “I want our house to bring out a sense of hospitality and warmth. From the burning candle in the entryway to the coffee or tea you will surely be offered, down to the comfy throw pillow you will rest on, all of this matters and these are the details that drive my passion for making our house a home.”
Jamie loves entertaining and built her kitchen to host all of their gatherings!
“We host everything we can – neighborhood Halloween parties, church groups, progressive holiday dinners, Fourth of July parties… you name it. There’s nothing I love more than hosting close family and friends in our home.”
Her white kitchen has quartzite counters and a mix of beautiful finishes. Gorgeous brass pendants, gold faucet, and chrome hardware.
The mix of closed and glass doors helps to break up the cabinets.
Love these amazing antique doors she used for the pantry!!
This view looking from the living room into the kitchen is probably my favorite!
“With most of the walls and cabinets being white, I knew I wanted to add in lots of texture. The brick arch separating the open floor plan’s kitchen from living room did exactly that. It’s a bold design feature that adds warmth and character to our new build.”
“We also used reclaimed wood for the mantel and beams in the vaulted dining room. Elements like this really give our home that custom look we wanted.”
Jamie describes her decorating style as a mix of farmhouse, coastal and cottage.
Her beaded chandelier brings more of that coastal vibe to the living room, and the brick fireplace ties in the brick archway, connecting the two spaces.
Love that glimpse of those gorgeous blue cabinets in her office!
Gorgeous rugs, lots of texture, and wallpaper keep her mostly white interiors interesting.
The master bedroom is decorated in shades of soft blue.
The master bathroom has a more modern farmhouse feel with a raw wood vanity and patterned tile floors.
“Our home is so much more than these four walls. It’s a place in which we create memories with our boys, invite friends in for good food and wine, and celebrate life’s milestones. It also provides a sanctuary from the rest of the world when it all becomes too much. I love making it cozy, welcoming, and beautiful for all these things to take place in!”
I hope you enjoyed the tour of this gorgeous coastal farmhouse style home! To see more of Jamie’s home go to her blog, or find her on Instagram!
Wishing you all a happy week!

What paint color is that white? It is nice and bright but not a stark cold color. Thanks!
Sheila says
Hi Trish! I finally got an answer from Jamie (the homeowner). The white is Alabaster from Sherwin Williams. Hope that helps!

What a lovely home! It is beautifully decorated, yet so homey and welcoming. I especially love the brick dividing wall between the kitchen and living area. Gorgeous!

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! And that brick wall is my favorite part too! 🙂

Love all the white and light color things but having two black dogs, one who sheds constantly it’s just not practical.
Sheila says
That’s why I have slipcovers!! Even with dogs and kids I wash them frequently and can keep them clean!

Jinn says
Great idea. Thank you!
Roxanne says
Hi Sheila, where do you purchase your slipcovers?
Sheila says
Everything I’ve bought I’ve bought with slipcovers on them. For instance, Pottery Barn or Six Penny are the two I’ve recently purchased from and slipcovers were an option. Most furniture stores offer them as an option, but you can also add them after the fact if you find a good fabricator/drapery company in your area. Hope that helps!
