In the early years of being married I tried throwing my first dinner party, only to realize I didn’t actually have any serving platters! And when my in-laws came to stay, I had to run out to the store for an extra blanket!
When you’re already busy buying gifts, sending cards, and planning meals, that is added stress that no one needs.

For parties, there are a few things I call ‘must haves’ such as cocktail glasses, wine glasses, cocktail napkins, trays for serving, extra plates, and bar tools.

Guest Room Essentials
When it comes to guests, I like to think of what I would want when staying at someone else’s home. Of course nice sheets, fluffy towels, and extra blankets are a must.
But what might make someone’s stay extra special? Things like plush robes (especially nice if they don’t have access to an en suite bathroom), a lighted makeup mirror, a luggage rack, or scented candles. I also love to provide a carafe of water on the nightstand in case someone gets thirsty in the night.
Anything that makes it feel like a hotel stay, in the best way. 🙂
