Fall Mantel in Shades of Burnished Copper
Looking for some fall mantel decorating ideas? This romantic fall mantel combines greenery, heirloom pumpkins, rich florals and coppery elements to create a gorgeous display!
Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year, so I’m always anxious to start collecting pumpkins, putting out cozy blankets, and having my first Pumpkin Spice Latté of the season! Of course, it’s still hot here in California, but we’ll just pretend that there’s a chill in the air already while burning my favorite pumpkin candle! 😉
I’ve had a certain color scheme in mind for my fall decor this year, and it involved being able to find the pinky-orange pumpkins that I saw last year. I wanted to do something a little more colorful than my previous neutral fall mantel, but nothing too strong. I generally steer away from the bright oranges and dark rusts, but lately I’ve been loving a softer version of that palette. All those warm and cozy autumn colors, but just a bit more faded.
Think soft coral, faded gold, and lots of green, with accents of brass and copper. That’s what I had in mind when I created my romantic fall mantel in shades of copper…..
Of course, I have to have my favorite white baby boos! What would fall be without these?!
Though if you can’t find real ones yet, I’ve found some faux baby boos that are so realistic! And I love that you can use them year after year. I got some for using during any year that I can’t find the real ones.
I mixed them with lots of eucalyptus, as well as one of these fabulous pink/orange pumpkins! I’m in love with this color!
After having several seasons of a more neutral fall palette, it’s actually a really nice change to have some color in here! I’m enjoying the warmth these colors add to the room, and it’s making me definitely want some cooler weather now!
My vintage French urn holds more eucalyptus and is joined by some adorable copper votives. As soon as I saw these, I knew they would be part of my fall decor this year! (Sadly, these are discontinued but I’ve found some cute similar ones below).
And I actually mixed faux and fresh flowers in this mantel for the first time ever! I think the trick to using some faux is to mix some real in with them. It gives the whole thing a more authentic look! 😉
As pretty as the mantel turned out, I can honestly say it was also super easy!
- Pick an urn or other vase to anchor either side of the mantel (large candleholders would work well, too).
- Center some pumpkins loosely in the center (I used one large and 7 small).
- Add more white pumpkins and small copper votives in between the center and the ends.
- Finish by tucking in both faux and fresh florals and eucalyptus to fill in the gaps. And that’s it!
I’m seriously crushing on copper right now, and I love that votives are so versatile and could be used almost anywhere. I’m thinking they may make a reappearance on one of my fall tables!

HI Sheila,
Love, love the copper theme mantel! Pinned!
Thanks so much Laura!
Hi Sheila. I loved this mantel so much, I had to try and copy it. Hard to find the copper, votives, so I used amber. I’ll be putting up my fall decorations this week. I look forward to your emails.
I’m so glad to hear that! Thank you so much Ginny and happy decorating!
Sheila
I love that the pumpkins are real! Everyone seems to do faux anymore, not that I don’t love that too but it is a nice change of pace to see real! Is all of the greenery eucalyptus? It just doesn’t look like eucalyptus to me. Maybe a different kind I’ve not seen. The copper in the whole room really makes for a nice fall setting. I’m not there yet. A little too soon here in NC. I did purchase some cute pumpkins made of fabric and a small floral arrangement that I’ve set out because there was just no where else to put them right now..lol. Other than that it will be a few more weeks before I get there even though it’s killing me!! I’m originally from Buffalo,NY and it’s hard not having fall yet but I’ll be ok. Anyway very nice!
Oh I so appreciate that Shirley – thank you! To be honest, I do prefer real pumpkins but sometimes it’s hard to find them and/or I’m decorating earlier and they just aren’t available. And I also know some people don’t have access to a lot of real ones so sometimes, faux works!
Thanks so much for stopping by and good luck with your fall decor! (also, btw, my husband is from Buffalo! Go Bills!)
Sheila
I love everything you do! You are so talented. I would like to know where you found your pinky coral large pumpkin, it is gorgeous!
Thank you!
Aww that is so kind Vicki- thank YOU!! The pink pumpkin is real and I bought it at Trader Joe’s! They carry lots of special/heirloom pumpkins in the fall. But if you don’t have TJs a pumpkin patch usually carries some of these! Hope that helps!
Stunning fall decor! The copper is a lovely touch. Happy Fall, Kippi
Thank you very much! So glad you stopped by!
Sheila

Your mantel, laden with copper treasures, is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen! You’ve truly outdone yourself and I am so impressed! My « mantel » is a shelf my Dear Father made for me and, unfortunately, it doesn’t hang over a fireplace! But, I love it and it works for me! I wish I had some lovely copper pieces like you do! If I did, I’d be up and at ‘em placing them around beautiful golden pumpkins right now!
What a lovely compliment, thank you so much for your kindness. And I’m a firm believer that you make whatever you have work for you. So if your mantel is a shelf that your father made you, that is wonderful! And you love it which is all that matters:)
Thank you so much for stopping by!

Looks so pretty. I also liked the toned-down shades of fall colors. Is that real eucalyptus, and if so, how long will it stay fresh up there? I assume they aren’t in water. I’ve been thinking of planting a eucalyptus tree in a corner of my yard and keeping it clipped very small just to have that beautiful foliage! p.s. I’m in CA too (OC) and not looking forward to the hot temps today!!
Hi and thanks very much! It is real eucalyptus and it will only stay fresh on the mantel a few days. However, once it’s dried it’s still pretty so it doesn’t bother me. Last year’s Christmas mantel I had eucalyptus there for a month and unless you got close, it looked fine, haha! A tree is actually a great idea – I should do that since I buy it a lot!
Thank you for stopping by!

Beautiful Sheila! Love the combination of copper and eucalyptus!!

I couldn’t resist these votive either. I started scattering mine around the house. Your mantle is wonderful. The soft peachy and soft green pumpkins grab me all the time.
I mix white in with them. I use velvet pumpkins too.
Enjoy your day
