Fall Porch Decorating Ideas: Rich Autumn Colors on the Porch

Looking for fall porch decorating ideas? Incorporating rich autumn tones with mums, accented with beautiful fall wreaths creates a stunning (but easy) fall porch!

A fall front porch is one of my favorite things about the season! Whenever I pass one all decorated with pumpkins and mums, it always seems so warm and inviting. There’s something inherently cozy about fall, and I love the outside of my home to reflect that!

On this year’s fall porch, I’m continuing my slightly less-than-traditional color scheme that I shared with you in the family room and kitchen. My mantel and the other rooms had some touches of pink, and I’ve chosen mums to reflect that palette for the porch. I’m excited to show you what I’ve come up with- it’s very different than anything I’ve ever done before!

Welcome to this year’s fall porch!

My palette was shaped by the wreaths I picked for the front doors. I absolutely love the pinkish-red berries and the fact that they say fall, but in a much more subtle way.

I’ve never bought mums in these colors before, but I have to say, I’m loving them! They bring such bright and cheerful color to the front porch, and the lighter mums continue that inside palette I spoke about.

Along with the pink and white mums, I added faded orange, pink, green, and white pumpkins and my favorite lanterns. (This is the medium size and the one to the right of the doors is the small).

If you peruse Pinterest and look at many of the beautiful seasonal porches, they really go all out. From hay bales to corn stalks to 100 pumpkins, they look gorgeous but to me, they’re not realistic.

I love to create a pretty porch, especially since it sets the tone before family or friends even step inside my home. But, I don’t want to go crazy or spend a fortune!

Creating a gorgeous fall front porch is actually pretty simple. You definitely need some beautiful wreaths as those really determine the color direction you’re going in.

Add a few pumpkins (I love the heirloom varieties for their beautiful colors) along with mums or other seasonal flowers, as well as some lanterns or a pretty doormat and you can create a porch that brings in the beauty of the season without breaking the bank!

The mums are in a variety of vintage buckets and olive baskets.

I love all the different pumpkins they have nowadays, especially the blue/green ones! These Jarrahdale can be hard to find, but they are my absolute favorite!

And if you can’t find real pumpkins in your area, there are wonderful faux options that look so real nowadays! In fact, I often mix faux in with my real ones to save money. And the advantage is, the faux can be used again and again!

  1. All so beautiful! I cant get the shopping lins to work – the wreaths? Tried also going to Pottery Barn’s site and didn’t see these. Tried with both Safari and Google open. Suggestions?

    1. Hi Deanne and thanks so much!

Not sure about your links as they work fine when I tried them (clicking on the small photos).

These wreaths are actually sold out BUT the links you see under them at the beginning of the post and the Shop the Post links at the end of the post have a few of these I found on Ebay (the exact same!) and several similar ones too!

      Hope that helps!

    Porch is lovely.
Your doors, striking. May I ask where you purchased. We would like to replace our front door.
    Thanks!

    1. Oh goodness, thank you so much Cynthia! The irony is these are about the only thing we kept when we moved in!! They don’t fit correctly and are super drafty, haha! The former owner bought them so I don’t know where they got them, unfortunately. I can tell you they are solid mahogany but that’s about all I know. Maybe try a google search for French country mahogany doors and see if you can find something similar?

Thanks so much for stopping by!
