Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!
I’m starting to hear rumblings of fall in Blogland and on Instagram! And though I will start earlier than some because it’s my job, this is just a little too early – even for me!
Since we still have a quite few more weeks of summer, I’m hanging on with everything I’ve got – at least for now. Today I’m sharing summer tops, summer food, summer books, and of course, some good design ideas, too. Welcome to August!

THINGS I LOVE IN DESIGN/DECOR
Jenny Martin is a favorite designer of mine since I discovered her last year, and this pretty kitchen does not disappoint!
Since I’m still reveling in summer for the most part, I’m savoring these heady last warm days with dinners outside and concerts in the park. How about Frenchify-ing your picnics with this classic picnic basket? I’ve searched high and low and this is a great price for the real thing! I’ve never had one and now I will. 😉
If you’re looking for a pretty sconce for a small space, hallway or the like, it doesn’t get much cuter than this one.
This white-washed wood serving bowl and serving set are gorgeous – and on sale right now. Seriously, get them. You will love them and get compliments every time you use them! Plus, they make great gifts, too.
Need some neutral throw pillows to use now and into fall (or just to mix with others you have)? These striped ones are perfect! Part of the Nate Berkus line and they get 5* reviews (they come in lumbar size, too). And either one would look so cute with this floral number!
This week I thought you might want to see what was big for the month of July, so I’m sharing last month’s best sellers: this rustic jug, this super reasonable artwork I have in the kitchen, these gorgeous white-washed terracotta vases (on sale), and this marble wall magazine rack (40% off).
THINGS I’M WEARING/LOVING/WANTING
How about a little bridge between those summer dresses and full-on fall? I’m loving things that can work now and later!
This button-down is so classic, 100% cotton, and comes in some unique colors. I never see button-downs in these gorgeous shades so this is a winner!
How do you feel about the trouser jean trend? So far I haven’t bought any but I have to say, I’m tempted. They look flattering and make your legs look a mile long! This pair (30% off) caught my eye (love the exaggerated hem).
How adorable is this jean jacket?! Love the color and the style is so unique.
So happy to have found this braided gold belt. I had a similar one years ago and wore it to death! Versatile and so chic.
Best seller’s for the month of July: this pretty floral dress , this gorgeous coat (still on sale as part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale), this slide I have in 3 colors ($35 now!), and this sling-back flat (also part of the Nordstrom sale).
THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING/LISTENING TO
Since I’ve been quickly running out of shows, it’s the perfect time to indulge in some major reading as summer winds down. Preferably on the patio, or in the sand. 😉
And I’ve read so many good ones lately! My most recent read was The Dictionary of Lost Words which I really liked. Other recent favorites have been Remarkably Bright Creatures (such a sweet story), The Paper Palace (good beach read), and This Is How it Always Is.
THINGS I’M MAKING/EATING/DRINKING
Maybe you should make Red Wine Sangria for your next picnic or backyard BBQ?! If you’ve been thinking about it, you’ve got to try my recipe. I love it but had never made it until I made it for the blog, and it’s so good!
It easily doubles or triples and it could not be easier to make. If you want to try it, check out the printable recipe here.
Some grilling favorites I also shared on the blog are these yummy Grilled Oregano Shrimp, Grilled Peaches & Burrata, and Curried Pork Tenderloin. All of these are easy but delicious with very few ingredients! (scroll to the bottom of the post to get to the printable recipes).
This is my new favorite mosquito repellent. The natural ones just haven’t worked for me and I try to avoid the ones that have DEET, so this one is the perfect option. Effective and not sticky!
And this week I shared my 6 Easy Tips for Making Cut Hydrangeas Last Longer – these really work!
