Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration

Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!

Did you hear about our crazy weather this past week? Last Sunday a rather large tropical storm was headed for Southern California which had us rushing to secure windows, cover outdoor furniture, and make sure all the flashlights had batteries (spoiler alert: they did not!) And then as the day’s downpour drenched us, we had an earthquake!

Funny enough, although I’ve been saying that I’m holding onto summer with all my might, between my trip up north which was filled with cooler, cloudier days, and last weekend’s storm, I’m finally starting to get the itch for fall. Especially since school started here as well. There’s just something about school starting that signals a new season to me (still!), whether or not the weather is cooperating, haha!

How about you? Are you all ready for a change of seasons, or still holding onto summer?

And now, let’s talk Friday Favorites!

THINGS I LOVE IN DESIGN/DECOR

Jean Stoffer is one of my favorite designers and I don’t think I’ve ever shared her here before! This home is lovely, full of meticulous details, texture, and warm woods. See the whole house here.

I’ve been wanting more of the vintage wood vessels I have. I love them all year, but they’re especially great in the fall because of their color and texture. Right now, these are on sale (come in 2 sizes), plus free shipping, which is less than any Etsy seller I’ve seen!

I saw this set of gorgeous brown-toned pillows this week and fell in love. Thinking maybe I’m doing browns this year!

These napkins are so pretty! I can’t believe the price for such gorgeous style, plus they’re a generous size, which bargain napkins often aren’t. And I could not resist this adorable mug! It puts a smile on my face every time I see it. 🙂

Also, I have another blogger friend who has her own decor line, and honestly, the things are so adorable! This little rug would be perfect in a kitchen or laundry room, I love these gorgeous hanging baskets (they could also easily sit), and this swan planter looks just like the ones I’ve seen at flea markets for hundreds. I think they did such a great job with this line!

And… keep an eye out as fall decor is coming to the Maison de Cinq shop next week, yay!

Last week’s best sellers: these gorgeous lanterns on major sale and this pretty glass hurricane.

THINGS I’M WEARING/LOVING/WANTING

The neutral color of this faux leather blazer (above in green, also available in tan) is such a refreshing change from the typical black, and these faux leather pants are a steal and so great for fall!

I’m in desperate need of fall outerwear and am considering this classic quilted field jacket (so many good reviews and I love the green).

Boden is one of my favorite stores and they have some great new items for fall, most especially this long sleeve polo sweater. Love the contrast piping! Other great pieces are this ribbed knit henley and this stunning short-sleeve silk blouse.

Have you seen the Mary Jane’s that are out this year? I am crushing hard! I actually first started seeing them last year (namely at Sézane) but now they are literally everywhere! I’m loving the block heel style like these and this pair. And my friend has this flat pair that she says are so comfortable! (I just ordered them in black).

And in case you want to wear your (French) love on your sleeve (or chest), I’m loving this Paris sweatshirt (there are 5 other cities as well).

Last week’s best sellers: this cute plaid blazer and this cropped trench coat (on sale).

THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING/LISTENING TO

Have you guys gotten on the Suits bandwagon? I had never seen it when it used to air on the USA Network, but it’s on Netflix now and apparently, is breaking streaming records! I’ve started it and though I wouldn’t say it’s amazing, it is fun and entertaining.

Kinda like a soap opera set in a law firm. Plus, it has Meghan Markle, which is so fun. 🙂

THINGS I’M MAKING/EATING/DRINKING

love fresh peaches in summer and because it’s such a short season, I try to use them while I can. This Peach Streusel Pie (above) looks delicious and easy (no from-scratch crust involved!) I’ve also made this Cinnamon Oat Peach Crisp, and I’m dying to try this Spicy Honey-glazed Pork Chops with Peaches.

And have you ever made fresh peach ice cream? It’s one of my favorite things but I haven’t found a recipe I love yet. On the hunt!

  1. Love, love, love Jean Stoffer’s home! What is the curtain in the bathroom? A roman shade? I’m not finding something similar. Help!

    1. Looks like a custom-made roman shade! You could find a seamstress or drapery maker to make you one. There are even some on Etsy that do that!

      Hope that helps!
