Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration

Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, movies, podcasts, fashion finds and more! And though it won’t all be French, some of it definitely will!

It’s Friday! I’m not sure I’ve ever been happier to have a week end! It’s been a rough one, with lots of tech issues with the blog (nothing gets me more frustrated than that!), things breaking, plumbers coming, cars needing tires… you know, one of those weeks.

But the good news is it is the best day of the week and I’ve got lots of fun things to share. I love connecting with all of you here and hearing how much you love the series – I look forward to it every week!

This week I’m sharing everything from a great decor find, to a favorite movie, recipe, or podcast, to a wonderful thing to wear – anything that strikes me as interesting or fun or that you might love, too! 😉

THINGS I LOVE IN DESIGN/DECOR

This project by Brooke and Steve Giannetti is a favorite, and her blog post includes all the before and afters. So fun to see the transformation! If you never picked up their new book, I highly recommend it!

A couple of weeks ago I talked about faux olive trees because I’m dying to get one – I’ve got a couple on order (this one and this one). But what I didn’t talk about is I’m dying to find the perfect basket planter to put it in!

This one is my favorite, but I may order a few to see what looks best. This one is also a great option, as is this one, this version looks sturdy, love the shape/style of this one, and this one is an amazing price!

Also, have you guys started planning for holiday decorating at all yet? I’m not one to rush each season, but I have to be honest, last year everything I wanted was sold out by the time I was ordering in November! Having said that, I am ordering a few more of my two absolute, have-to-have staples before they’re gone again this season!

This garland is my favorite and looks amazingly real as does this simple green wreath. Terrain’s holiday greenery is worth every penny – they look so real and I’ve been using them over and over for years now!

THINGS I’M WEARING/LOVING/WANTING

I mentioned I had a tough week, so all I want lately is cozy and comfy! My favorite cozy joggers are a great basic and come in multiple colors, and my absolute favorite, unbelievably soft cotton cashmere sweatpants are 30% off, as are these wide-leg favorites. Also just ordered these joggers. They come in a zillion colors, get great reviews and the price is right!

I love all the soft vintage-y colors this sweatshirt comes in, or create a matching set with this cotton cashmere sweatshirt (how pretty is the caramel color?) And since we’re talking cozy favorites, these slippers are my go-to! They’re so warm and comfy and they sell out every fall (they make a great gift, too. I’ve bought them for everyone from my MIL, to my cousin, to my daughter).

I’m also a big knee-high boot fan and haven’t bought a pair in probably a decade! I love how they look with the new wide leg jeans, slim jeans, and dresses so I’ve been searching for a pair that don’t cost an arm and a leg. These suede ones are so pretty (love that color!), and this suede pair is great basic, and these have such cute details.

THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING/LISTENING TO

A new Nate and Jeremiah show?! YES!! Sheila’s dreams have come true. My favorite men in decorating, Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent, have a new show called The Nate and Jeremiah Home Project. If you remember Nate and Jeremiah by Design was a favorite of mine and I’m so excited to find out that they’re back!!

We just started a new show called Ordinary Joe, have you heard of it? I hadn’t but I kept seeing billboards all over LA so we decided to give it a whirl. We’ve only seen a couple of episodes, but it’s promising. Can a single decision change the course of your life? Food for thought, right?

A great movie that follows this same kind of  premise is Sliding Doors starring Gwyneth Paltrow. I love that movie so hopefully the show proves to be just as good!

THINGS I’M MAKING/EATING/DRINKING

Well we’re actually still going pumpkin crazy, haha, but I’m sure you don’t want more of those recipes! Sooo, since it’s the start of soup season over here, I thought I’d share a couple of my favorites. This Roasted Tomato Basil Soup is delicious (and way better than the Campbell’s I grew up on!) and this easy Chicken Tortilla Soup is really good, too.

And because I actually can’t resist (sorry!) I had to share my favorite Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream (it’s so good and it’s eggless which = easy!) and this Cinnamon Ice Cream that my kids go crazy for!

RANDOM THOUGHTS

I’m very, very tempted to paint the interior doors in my home a color other than white. I’ve seen some beautiful examples lately with doors in pale blues or grey hues and it looks so good! Seen on Instagram here.

Just bought these brass chip clips and I love them! They make everything in the cabinet so much prettier and neater and they make me happy every time I see them! 😉

This seems like very good advice for all of us, especially in today’s very fast-paced and self-absorbed world.

And if you missed it, this week I shared the most gorgeous French farmhouse home tour!! You can see the full tour here.

Happy Friday!
