Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration

Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!

You may have heard about our crazy weather here in So. Cal this week! Luckily, the flooding and mud slides didn’t really affect us, so all we had to deal with was a couple of windows leaking, bad traffic, and a dog that hates the rain!

We continue to make progress on the laundry area (and by we, I mean my husband, haha). It’s had some stops and starts, perhaps some cussing, but we’re getting there!

And today is a little bit of a special Friday Favorites! Special, you say? Yes. Because today I’m talking French-inspired everything!

Though my decorating style has been morphing slightly with more rustic elements, I still describe my basic style as French or European-farmhouse. And I know that’s what a lot of you gravitate to (probably why you’re here, right?) So for today’s Friday Favorites, I thought I’d focus on some of my favorite French finds, both in fashion and in the home!

Beautiful, French-inspired home by Brooke Giannetti. Even the porch is stunning!

A few of my favorite French-inspired items for the home:

Love the size of this basket, and this basket feels like a vintage French laundry basket!

I know many of you love the wicker-wrapped demijohns as much as I do and I found a new source here (come in 2 sizes), this urn/finial feels authentic (and the price is great for the size!), and this creamy ceramic vase looks just like my French confit pots! Love!

And of course, you have to have a French greeting on the porch with this one, or if you’re like me and want a more rustic European vibe, this one is perfect! (it would look great as a runner in a mud or laundry room!)

French Furniture favorites:

This rustic mirror feels very European in style plus it’s currently over 60% off (I have it upstairs and it’s stunning!), this pretty coffee table/ottoman gets amazing reviews (and is a great price), and this French chair has classic lines and is a steal!

For a French feel in the kitchen/dining:

I own and love this pretty linen runner, these scalloped plates feel very French and are a fraction of the price of the designer version, and I bought these woven trivets last year and I love them!! (They would also look great hanging).

Last week’s best sellers: this amazing marble-look dish drying rack and this adorable boxwood topiary.

I’m always about channeling the simple and understated style of the French. I’m sharing just a few things that I think really capture that essence and/or that I’ve recently brought home and love.

The Chanel-inspired lady jackets that started popping up last year really channel that French style (like above). This one is chic and fits well (I own it in the white), and I also love this sweater-style! Comes in several colors (I especially love the ones with the piping or the stripes!)

Speaking of stripes, this sweater (20% off) is such a classic (and practically season-less in cotton), and you have to have at least one good, striped tee. This one is a personal fave – the style is so quintessentially French! They’re especially cute with an adorable cropped jean.

You know I love a classic ballet flat, and this one is so good with an updated square toe (especially in the red). I also love the new Mary Jane flats that are everywhere (which also skew very French!), and a sling-back flat always feels chic to me (just ordered in the silver).

Jewelry is always understated and classic, like a pair of simple gold hoops or this paper-clip chain necklace (this is 14k. gold-filled which never tarnishes and is way better than plated!)

And I just bought this cute ‘Bonjour’ tee – it makes me happy every time I see it!

Last week’s best sellers: these wide-legged pants (still on sale!) and this stunning statement necklace.

Have you guys heard about the show Feud: Capote vs. The Swans? I haven’t watched it yet but I have to say, I’m dying to! It’s about story of Truman Capote’s falling out with the “swans” of New York, a group of socialites in New York high society. (It’s airing on Fox each week, and then streaming on Hulu the following day).

It has an amazing cast and I saw photos of the women in their makeup and wardrobe and they looked sooo good! I love period dramas so I’m hoping it’s as good as it looks!

Another exciting find is the book, Audrey Hepburn in Paris. It gets released next week and is a book about her lifelong connection to the City of Light, featuring never-before published stories and photos.

French food? Yes, please! But not fancy French food. I actually make quite a few recipes that are French in spirit but delicious and uncomplicated. Most are either from the Ina Garten cookbook, Barefoot in Paris or Around my French Table by Dorie Greenspan.

This chicken dish is dinner-party worthy, these Brussels sprouts are delicious, and it isn’t a French meal without a decadent dessert, right? We love this Chocolate Mousse.

This Instagram account shares lots of pretty French goodness.
