Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration

Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!

I have to start off with an apology for not getting a post out to you guys earlier this week. I was out of town until Tuesday, which in and of itself wouldn’t have been a problem, but while I was gone I got a call that my mom had fallen and been taken to the hospital.

Her injury wasn’t serious, but it was difficult to deal with the doctors/hospital while being out of town, so I ended up coming home early so that I could be here for her. Then the day I got home our dog Hudson started acting dangerously lethargic (if you follow me on IG you probably know him – he’s the cute Golden Retriever).

So yesterday morning I ended up rushing him to the vet, only to find out he had a mass on his spleen that was ruptured and bleeding. So amidst my tears, I was faced with the difficult decision to put him down or have them do an expensive surgery. It’s a decision I’m sure many of you have also faced and one that’s never easy. And in this case, they literally said “you have to be all in or all out, and you have to decide now.”

The good news is, we did elect to do the surgery and he has come out of it well. We won’t know much until the pathology comes back, but I’m hoping and praying that it is either benign, or one of the more treatable types of cancer. Trying to take it one day at a time and thinking positive thoughts!

And now onto much more fun things – I’ve got lots to share for Friday Favorites today!

This kitchen is just one lovely part of a whole lovely house! Lots of French influences and laid back luxury.

Did you see the cute upholstered chairs I added to the kitchen dining area? The neutral color is perfect, I love the linen look, and they could work not only as a dining chair but at a desk or in the corner of a room. And they’re now over $50 less than when I purchased them last year!

I’m in love with these cool decorative wood balls! I’m always looking for unique pieces and they make a great statement, plus the price is great for 3 of them!

Are you hosting any gatherings for Memorial Day next weekend? If you’re looking for some new, cute things I love items that can work all summer long like these adorable placemats (half off!) or this stunning tablecloth (love!) If you want more patriotic pieces, I love the idea of adding this patriotic doormat (it could stay out all summer!)

I’ve been looking for a new bench for the front porch and finally decided on a classic teak style. I fell in love with this one (now 20% off!) and this one is highly rated and gives a similar look for even less!

I randomly saw this pretty landscape artwork on LTK last week. It’s part of the Martha Stewart line at Walmart and so good!

This week’s Amazon finds: loving these European style drinking glasses (can’t wait to get them!), these pretty shampoo/conditioner/soap bottles keep your bathroom looking beautiful, and these chair leg floor protectors are one of my favorite finds ever! No more of the moving around/falling off felt ones!

Last week’s best sellers: this wonderfully priced outdoor wicker lounge set and this yummy rattan-wrapped candle.

While I was away I popped into Anthropologie and tried on these wide-leg cropped pants (above) in and fell in love! (I got the black) The contrast stitching is soo adorable, plus this style is ultra-flattering since the material sculpts as it stretches. They also do a linen version of the same pant (with 10 choices of solids/patterns).

I’ve always loved the classic Hermès Oran sandal, but the price is a bit prohibitive. I especially love them in the saddle color and the white. Though they’ve been around awhile, I didn’t really try any of the dupes until now, and I’ve found two great options. This Steve Madden version is a viral favorite (also comes in lots of colors) and is under $60, and this one has the classic stitching.

And if you’re not into the branded styling, this pair of strappy leather sandals in cognac are super chic and under $60!

Totally crushing on these dressy linen sailor style shorts! How cute would they be for summer parties or date nights?!

I’m loving this pretty eyelet dress as well as this stunning one in black! It’s such a sweet pattern and feels quintessentially ‘summery’ to me!

And I just got this raffia clutch and I adore it! It’s so perfect for any spring/summer event, from a wedding to date night. Plus, it’s a generous size (I find so many clutches can barely fit my phone!)

Last week’s best sellers: this classic linen shift dress and my fave packable hat (still on sale!)

Bridgerton Season 3 is here and I can’t tell you how excited I am! Not only do I love the show, but right now I’m just really craving some light and happy things to watch and it seems like the perfect thing. I’ll be indulging tonight!

As soon as it starts warming up, I’m all about a yummy summer cocktail! If you’re looking for a new one, this Creamy Strawberry Gin Cocktail (above) I made last year is still one of my favorites (and it would be perfect for Memorial Day!)

  1. I don’t know why everything often happens at once, but I hope that things start to calm down for your family. Hoping all the best for your Mom’s and pup’s recovery.

    1. Gosh that seems to be the case over here! Thank you Kelly, I appreciate your kind words.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Sheila:

I’m so sorry to hear about your mom and Hudson. Don’t give up hope! My dog Sully was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor on his leg last July that had metastasized to his lymph nodes. He was given approximately three months. My husband and I decided to go the chemo route. Also, after doing research on cancer diets for dogs, we took him off all store bought food and I have been making all of his food since July. He now shows no signs of cancer and is going strong almost a year later! He also has more energy, which I believe is due to the better diet.
Try to have a relaxing weekend and think positive! I look forward to all of your posts!

    1. Oh I love hearing that!! Thank you Karen – that does give me hope! He’s truly the best dog and my best friend – I know you know how much joy our dogs bring us!

Thank you for your support – it’s so appreciated!

  3. Calypso in the Country says:

Sheila, I’m so sorry to hear about your mom and Hudson! I’ll say a prayer for them both. If you end up needing Yunnan Baiyao, I still have 5 unopened boxes from Rosie. Let me know and I can send them to you. Sending hugs.

    1. Aww thank you my friend! If anyone knows how difficult this can be, it’s you. I’m hoping and praying for benign and trying to just focus on that. Would love to talk to you at some point too, especially if, God forbid, the news isn’t good.

      Thanks for the love ❤️

  4. Sorry to hear about your Mom and Hudson. I’m happy they are both on the mend. I really love the off white dress from Mango so pretty. I like the other one from J Crew but a bit short for me. I hope you get a restful weekend and next week starts on a positive note.

    1. Thank you so much Diana, I really appreciate that! It was a week!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend 🙂
