Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration

Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!

Well, we made it! My husband and I managed to avoid getting Covid (yay!) and got away to Paso Robles and Santa Barbara for a much-needed few days of rest and relaxation.

We ate delicious food, drove around the beautiful countryside, tasted some great wine, and even snuck in a massage. Though I wish we could have gone for longer, I’m thrilled that we managed to swing it!

In the meantime, summer has hit! Is it warm where you are? The good news is, our garden is blooming profusely and we’ve been enjoying dinner on the patio. The bad news is, the mosquitos are back!

And now, let’s talk Friday Favorites! Today is going to be all about French favorites – in both home and fashion! So pour yourself a cup of coffee and get ready to dig in!

THINGS I’M LOVING IN DESIGN/DECOR

A few of my favorite French-inspired items for the home:

I love this set of vintage French art prints (under $20!!)

These scalloped wire urn planters are utterly charming! If you love them, scoop them up because this kind of French style is hard to come by!

I just ordered this wonderful basket and it’s huge for the price! (perfect for storage or a planter) 

And does it get any cuter than this brass “Bonjour” hook rack?! Love!

French Furniture favorites:

I absolutely adore this simple and beautiful linen headboard (on sale) -thinking of using it in the second guest room.

I love the well-priced console we have in the living room, and now they’ve come out with a matching coffee table!

And this Parisian kitchen island with marble top is sooo good (and it’s 25% off, too!)

For a French feel in the kitchen/on the table:

These hand-woven seagrass trivets are one of my absolute favorite purchases, and they feel very European.

These adorable “Rosé All Day” plates could not be cuter!

And not technically French but this glass vase is too good not to share! It’s one of my favorites due to the classic style and quality, and it’s now 30% off (I’ve never seen it on sale before!)

Last week’s best sellers: these cute wicker tealight candle holders and this vintage style still life.

 

THINGS I’M WEARING/WANTING

A pretty slip skirt or dress is essential French style, and because they’re cut on the bias, they’re very flattering to most figures. This linen slip skirt (on sale) is perfect for summer and this pretty floral skirt is on major sale!

This polka-dot dress is adorable and priced so well, and this linen wrap dress is so chic!

This charming top might be the perfect summer top (40% off), and the puff sleeve makes this striped tee special (50% off).

This drapey blouse is stunning, would be perfect year round, and it feels very French! 

A strappy gold heel is such a versatile piece, and these are the perfect heel height (over 40% off). And of course, espadrilles are a summer essential! This pair is my favorite!

And this delicate pearl necklace is the perfect piece to wear everyday (14k. gold-filled too!)

THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING

I was looking for a movie that was set in/shot in France to share with you, but I think I’ve seen them all, haha! However, in all the recommends I’ve given I don’t think I’ve ever shared the greatest of them all, To Catch a Thief! (it’s streaming on Amazon and many other platforms).

Seriously, if you’ve never seen it, it’s a must-see! And not just because the scenery is stunning, which of course it is (it’s set in the French Riviera). But it’s also an excellent movie – directed by Alfred Hitchcock (though I’d call it “Hitchcock Light”), and starring Grace Kelly and Cary Crant. It just doesn’t get better!!

And if you’ve already seen it, see it again! We’re going to watch it tonight! 🙂

 

THINGS I’M EATING/DRINKING

Why not make a French-inspired dinner? Steak is a classic bistro dinner and this Classic Steak au Poivre (above) is simpler than it looks and amazing!

For dessert, here are 35 Favorite French Desserts from Food & Wine. This Bittersweet Chocolate Tart looks soo good, but there are lots to choose from.

And have you ever tried a French 75 cocktail? They are sooo delish and have definitely become a favorite!
