Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!

Our youngest is here for a visit with his girlfriend and I’m giddy! I’ve had no kids here this summer (except when my daughter came but, if you remember, she arrived with Covid!)

I’m looking forward to a long weekend of laughter, good food, home movies, and just soaking in his presence. 🙂

THINGS I’M LOVING IN DESIGN/DECOR

Designer Allison Willson built this dream country home for her family in Canada. The stone alone is just stunning.

My decor focus these last few weeks has been on our younger son’s room, ie; the newest guest room. I’ve finally faced the fact that he won’t be back so to cheer myself up, I’ve been pinning and planning. I finally settled on a color palette and I’m so excited! (Hope to share more soon!)

One thing I really need in both guest rooms is artwork for the walls. I’m thinking for one of them I’m going to do a botanical grouping of some sort. Deciding between this set of four (it’s almost half what I saw it for at Wisteria!) and this pretty neutral set.

In other news, I came across this stunning fall-toned floral pillow this week and fell in love! I ordered it and plan on mixing it with this plaid or this one.

Yummy wood finds on sale! These reclaimed wood vessels (free shipping, too) are a favorite as is this stunning (and huge) teak bowl!

And these hand-crafted vases in brown are 50% off! Loving the brown version for fall.

Amazon must-have: these oven liners (perfect for preventing scorching on the bottom from pizza or any other drippings!)

Last week’s best sellers: my fave linen tea towels and this adorable basket planter (giving Nancy Meyers vibes!)

 

THINGS I’M WEARING/WANTING

I’ve always loved a suede bag, there is just something so sumptuous about them (even an inexpensive bag looks luxe in suede!) Lucky for me, suede is huge for fall this year. This stunning bucket bag sold out last year before I could even buy it (which I’ve remedied by already ordering it in brown)! Also love this well-priced and gorgeous olive colored bag.

I’m a big fan of button downs and love that this all-cotton version comes in a yummy brown shade perfect for fall.

Can we talk J. Crew? They just released a portion of their fall line and it’s so good already. I’m eyeing this pretty top in the stripe (love that it’s not poly!) and this sailor denim trouser (above) (the dark rinse is so chic and it’s 25% off), and my favorite long sweater coat is back in a new color that I love! It’s such a good neutral (better than the camel I already own) and it’s 40% off right now! (Definitely order a size down, they run very large).

Their best selling ‘lady sweater’ is also back and more relaxed than last year (also slightly less cropped and 25% off!). And I ordered this pretty little lacy blouse. It’s not fall per se but feels very French, could be worn dressy or casual, and is something I know I’ll wear for years to come.

Last week’s best sellers: this versatile belted denim jacket (under $50 now!) and this chic cotton cardigan.

 

THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING

Things are returning! I’m catching up on a few favorite shows that are back. If you never saw The Bear it’s an amazing show and they just released season 3.

I also just finished the 3rd season of Bridgerton, and am just starting the 4th season of Emily in Paris (above), as well as the 4th of Only Murders in the Building. 

 

THINGS I’M EATING/DRINKING

Despite my craving some fall in decor and fashion, we’re still fully in summer mode when it comes to food so I thought I’d share a few favorite grilling recipes. We love this Grilled Fennel-Spiced Pork Chops with Sage-Lemon Vinaigrette (this is my son’s favorite so we had it his first night home).  We also love this Grilled Chicken Stuffed with Goat Cheese, and this Chicken with Fontina & Prosciutto.

All three of these are from an old Bobby Flay cookbook, Grilling for Life which I highly recommend. It’s actually his ‘healthy’ cookbook but doesn’t taste like it, in the best way. Honestly, all of his books and recipes from Food Network are delicious, especially the earlier years from Boy Meets Grill.

Random useful and amazing find! We have been battling mosquitoes here for 3 summers now (traditionally California never had any before). I’ve tried several natural remedies to repel them and none have ever worked until I found this coconut oil lotion. My friend recommended it and I bought it thinking it wouldn’t work, but it did! Apparently mosquitoes hate coconut – who knew?!
