Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration
Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, movies, podcasts, fashion finds and more! And though it won’t all be French, some of it definitely will!
Wow what a busy week it’s been – and it will only get busier from here on in! I’ve started planning my Christmas decorating and I did buy a couple of gifts which definitely has me in the mood!
It was also a big week on the blog as I shared my 5th Annual Holiday Gift Guide! If you missed it, this week I shared my favorite gift picks for men and women, along with stocking stuffers, too. You can check it out here. All the things I shared are things my husband and I own and love, or would love to receive!
And… I’ll be back with a fun Gift Guide by Category with gifts for the foodie, the homebody, decor lover and more tomorrow!!
Now onto Friday Favorites, where I share everything from a great decor find, to a favorite movie, recipe, or podcast, to a wonderful thing to wear – anything that strikes me as interesting or fun or that you might love, too! 😉
THINGS I LOVE IN DESIGN/DECOR
I found this beautiful home tour the other day, and I fell in love with the simple, European-influenced styling.
Did you guys know that H&M has a home store? I had no idea until a few months ago that they even had a website, and now my local mall has an actual brick and mortar store! They use a lot of natural materials like wool, linen and cotton, and their products look much more expensive than they are.
One of my favorites are their throw pillows – you seriously can’t beat the prices. I recently bought this linen pillow cover and this velvet one. They’re so reasonable you could get them in multiple color options. Another steal is their table linens.
Love this tablecloth, these linen napkins, and these placemats would be so cute for Christmas. Also love this seagrass basket, this metal basket, this market basket and this gorgeous pitcher. And if you still have young kids at home (or grandkids) their children’s decor section is so cute! I mean, just look at this adorable basket and this rug!
One of the things on my own holiday wish list are new bath towels. Isn’t it amazing how long we’ll keep old faded and ratty ones around? Ours are so bad, and now that I’ve redone my linen closet, I want some plush new white towels to keep the cohesive look and create that spa-like feeling in the bathroom.
I’ve been down a researching hole to find the best bath towels out there, and I’m ordering 2 of each of these to ‘test’ them out! These 700 gsm are rated the best by nearly everyone, these Turkish cotton towels, these organic cotton ones, and these quick-dry cotton towels. I’m so excited to have new towels (ours are over 20 years old!)
THINGS I’M WEARING/LOVING/WANTING
Whenever the holidays roll around my kids are always asking what I want for Christmas and they’re always teasing me because most years I ask for a robe, PJs and slippers. What can I say? I like my cozy!
My everyday slippers that look attractive and not “bedtime-ish” are these suede ones from J. Crew. They’re on sale right now and sell out every year so if you’ve ever thought about getting them, now’s the time! They also have a very similar, slightly cheaper version at J. Crew Factory.
And of course, you gotta have a fluffy pair! I have these – they’re just like the Uggs only much less expensive, and these are going crazy on Amazon (just bought them for my daughter). I also have a slip-on/clog type thing in wool. I love this type! Because they have a real sole, I can run out to get the mail or the paper (and of course, you can even go to the market in them). I have these, but also love these, and these are sooo cute!!
As for robes, I own and love this cozy one, and I’ve also had this one that’s similar for less. And this one is on my wish list for this year!
My favorite pajamas are from PJ Salvage – they have the cutest patterns! I’ve also owned these and love them, and these are a great deal.
All of these make great gifts – take it from me! 😉
THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING/LISTENING TO
Ever on the search for good romantic comedies I haven’t already seen, my daughter and I watched America’s Sweethearts the other night and loved it! (It’s hard to go wrong with Billy Crystal and Julia Roberts – he’s not the love interest, just a friend). Speaking of Billy Crystal, an old but really good movie he’s in is City Slickers. If you’ve never seen it, it’s worth seeking out. It’s funny and sweet.
Another Julia Robert’s romantic comedy that I have seen and love but seems a little under the radar is Notting Hill. Hugh Grant is the love interest and it’s a British film, so you know what I think about that! 😉
THINGS I’M MAKING/EATING/DRINKING
I’m starting to plan my Thanksgiving menu! I’ll be hosting again this year and, though there are staples and favorites that everyone insists on, I do vary the desserts a bit. No one here is married to regular pumpkin pie, so I often make this Pumpkin Cheesecake which is so delicious! However, I’m kind of dying to try this Pumpkin Bread Trifle or this Pumpkin Banana Mousse.
And how amazing do these Parmesan Sweet Potato Stacks look??
RANDOM THOUGHTS
Love, love, love this kitchen!
I do most of these things, except the waking up early. Guess I better work on that! 😉
Do you struggle with frizzy hair? I never used to but as I’ve gotten older my hair has gotten curlier and hence, frizzier. I’ve mostly ignored it or bought products that were disappointing but not anymore! This stuff is a Godsend! You spray it on dry hair, and presto, no more frizz! Not kidding.
And be sure to stop by tomorrow when my Holiday Gift Guide by Category comes out!
Happy Friday!
Sheila

Great goodies today! I loved everything about that house tour, inside and out! I am interested in the H&M pillow covers, but couldn’t find any sizes mentioned. Since you’ve already ordered one, perhaps you can help. I’m tired, so maybe I just missed it. In that case, sorry. Otherwise, thanks!
Hi Joan! I purchased the 20 x 20 but they also come in a rectangle that is slightly smaller. Hope that helps!
