Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration

Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!

This week flew by! Did you feel the same way? I got lots of laundry, ironing, and chores done, and I managed to watch the Grammys. And I baked! Something I haven’t done much of lately. The rain really gets me in the mood. 🙂

This weekend we’re having a little dinner party, and we’re going to look at some Golden Retriever puppies! I say look because we’re not quite sure we’re ready but wanted to meet this breeder and at least get a feel for them (our prior breeder has sadly passed away). I’ll be honest, though I still miss Hudson terribly and part of me is hesitant, the other part of me misses having a dog so much. I’ll keep you posted (just don’t tell my daughter – she will literally flip!)

THINGS I’M LOVING IN DESIGN/DECOR

This kitchen by Mark D. Sikes feels very ‘Nancy Meyers’ to me – no wonder she hired him to redecorate her home! See the whole house here.

And on that note, we’re channeling Nancy Meyers this week! If you read last summer’s post on how to get her aesthetic, then you know how much I love her and her style. And now with design trends going in a more traditional/English country direction, her style fits right in there!

I’m crushing on the idea of a scalloped wicker tray and one that I shared last summer sold out so fast, I missed it. I’m loving this one (it’s a great price for the size) or this one that is slightly less but also smaller. Both are charming!

Blue and white is always part of the Nancy Meyers look and these gorgeous vases are on sale right now!

The fluting makes this pitcher so special. Looks way more expensive than it is.

In the kitchen you must have a cake stand and this one is lovely (and 50% off right now!) 

This floral linen throw pillow is stunning (20% off).

I just ordered these adorable salad servers. We needed some new ones and I could not resist that bow detail!

Probably the cutest teapot I’ve ever seen! 

Did you know that Pottery Barn has a collaboration with Kravet? I’ve always been a fan of their gorgeous fabrics and the whole collection is stunning. Favorites are the dinnerware (those dinner plates!), this pretty pillow and this one, and these cachepots. There’s also bedding, wallpaper, and more. Shop the whole collection here.

THINGS I’M WEARING/WANTING

I’m a huge suede lover, and then this week Vogue sent an email titled ‘Suede, Suede, Suede’, which feels like this is meant to be, haha! To me, a suede or leather jacket is perfect for spring since they’re not as heavy as wool or down. 

This gorgeous suede coat is 40% right now and so chic! Also love this casual faux suede jacket (also on sale), and this faux leather jacket has great style at a great price. And if you’re willing to spend a bit more this blue suede jacket is stunning!

Did you know the hottest bag color right now is navy? And I’m here for it! Theses navy bags are so chic, and navy is actually the perfect neutral as it plays well with denim, white, black, and brown.

This handbag I have in brown just added a navy suede, this blue suede bag is lovely, as is this pretty navy leather bag.

Striped sweaters? Yes, please! Striped sweaters and tees are something I love all year long, but they feel especially appropriate in the spring where they can keep you warm while not looking too wintery. This zip-up cotton version (above) is 20% off now, love this one with it’s unique striping, and this classic cardigan is perfection.

THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING

I’m a huge fan of Norah Ephron’s movies so when I heard about this book, Norah Ephron at the Movies, I knew I had to get it. It examines her life and work, movie by movie, along with interviews with collaborators. So, so good! She is funny and so inspiring. A must-have if you love her like I do! (A little known book by her is I Feel Bad About my Neck which is hysterically funny and deals with life as an older woman). 

And since we’re talking Norah, I thought I’d share some of my favorites in case you’ve not seen them all.  We just recently watched You’ve Got Mail (above – hadn’t seen it in maybe 20 years!) and it’s still as good as ever. I also love Sleepless in Seattle, Julie & Julia, and When Harry Met Sally is probably my favorite movie of all time.

But Heartburn is an older one I haven’t seen. It was inspired by her real-life husband’s affair (starring Meryl Streep). I’m going to seek it out.

 

THINGS I’M EATING/DRINKING

Soup! The rainy weather really has me in the mood and we’ve been trying to make soup at least once a week. One of our favorites is this delicious Cream of Wild Mushroom Soup (above).

I’d also love to try this Creamy Potato Leek Soup with Dill or this Quick Chicken Noodle Soup.
