Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration

Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!

There’s exciting news here at MdC – we’re moving!! I’ve been holding onto this secret for weeks now but didn’t want to say anything until everything was for sure. But now there is no turning back (eek!) – it’s just 3 weeks away! 

We’ll be doing lots of work on the house before we move in so we’ll be renting for a few weeks. I’ll definitely be sharing the process over on Instagram so make sure you’re following me over there to follow along!

Meanwhile, we’ve been in this house for over 20 years so needless to say, the purging, organizing, and donating has begun, haha!

THINGS I’M LOVING IN DESIGN/DECOR

Love this pretty home from Bria Hammel Interiors – lots of inspiration for the new house! 🙂

 

This week is all about Nancy Meyers’ style! I’ve spent the last few months zhushing my home so that it feels a little warmer and more collected (inspired by her home and movies, of course). Which to me, relates both to more of a European way of decorating, as well as what her interiors are all about. Lived in, comfortable, and inviting. And I’ll be taking that approach into the new home as well!

I love that she always mixes a few dark wood or black pieces into every space. This gorgeous console table channels her style while also feeling like an antique, and I love the classic lines of this china cabinet!

I love her kitchens where she always displays lots of white dishes, cake plates, and pitchers. This dish set we own is classic yet chic (and a great price – you can also purchase plates or bowls separately). This pretty pitcher feels vintage and this charming crock is perfect for displaying utensils.

And Nancy is a big believer in having a large bowl for display on the dining table, or on the counter holding fresh fruit. I’ve been eyeing this marble bowl for months (now 20% off) or go with a pretty wicker bowl like this one (on clearance for over 50% off!).

I never used to use hurricanes (not sure why?!) but I’m a complete convert now. They look beautiful on a dining or console table and will be used for years to come. I own this gorgeous fluted version (and it’s on clearance now!)

Woven pieces are a requirement when it comes to channeling Nancy’s style. This gorgeous rattan vase was already a great price for the size and is now 20% off, jute rugs are a favorite of hers, and Nancy always has a wicker tray on a coffee table! Love this rattan tray which is a great price for the size or try this one if you need a smaller size.

Nancy uses terracotta pots both inside and out, both in her movies and in her own home. These are utterly charming and feel very European.

THINGS I’M WEARING/WANTING

Do any of you have summer getaways planned? Though our ‘getaway’ will be renovating the new house, I thought I’d share some of my favorite summery finds.

Multi-strapped sandals are the look for this summer! This pair is simple but chic and highly rated, this cage style is on-trend and half off!, and I also really adore this style!

These casual linen pants have a cult following and I can see why. They’re comfy but chic, and could work for everything from dinner to the pool, as could this vacation-perfect striped maxi linen dress (60% off today!), and this might be the chicest swimsuit cover-up of all time (above – 30% off)!

I’m a bit of a hat lover as I wear them all summer, not just on vacation. This textured straw hat is packable  and on major sale, and this one is charming (and also packable).

Swimsuits? Everyone dreads it! I used to wear a two-piece but I’m finding I’m more comfortable in a one-piece these days. Love this chic one-piece (35% off) (ruching always makes things more flattering!) and this polka dot one-piece (30% off) is soo adorable (sold out last summer!)

I think I’ve mentioned how much I love Supergoop! products, especially the makeup items that incorporate sunscreen. This tinted sunscreen would be perfect on a day where you just want to feel a little pulled together but don’t need or want a lot of makeup, and I’m hearing rave reviews about their new lip glosses! 

Last week’s best sellers: this lovely crocheted sweater (still on sale!) and these pretty + reasonably priced slides.

 

THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING

It’s beach read season! I’ve been a big fan of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novels for awhile now and I’m super excited for her new novel, Atmosphere. If you’ve never read her books, two of my favorites are The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones & the Six.

THINGS I’M EATING/DRINKING

Is there a better way to celebrate summer than with a delicious pitcher of sangria? I made this Red Wine Sangria for the first time last summer and it’s so delicious!
