Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration

Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!

As you can imagine, it’s been a bit non-stop over here with house details, appliance decisions, and the like. But next week I’ll get to see the drawings of the kitchen!  I have to say, I’m pretty excited. 🙂

On the other hand, I’ve been so laser focused that it’s felt like I’ve been in a cave all week (or at least chained to my computer doing research, haha!) Today’s post actually felt like a nice break!

And now, let’s talk about all the fun things we’re sharing this week!

THINGS I’M LOVING IN DESIGN/DECOR

This beach house is jaw-droppingly stunning, yet also so colorful and cheerful!

I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely still reveling in summer! Because of the move and my husband’s travel we haven’t done any of our usual fun summer things like dinners outside and concerts in the park. But this weekend I plan to change all that!

How about Frenchify-ing your picnics with this wicker picnic basket (a great price!) or this adorable one? They make me happy just looking at them! 🙂

And of course, if you’re going to do it right, you’ll need a water resistant picnic blanket (this is 2 blankets in 1), or you could go for this stylish one (great reviews and it’s 20% off!)

If you’re looking for a small refresh, changing out your throw pillows is one of the easiest ways to change up a space. And I found a great new source that gives that McGee look for under $40! Love this block print floral that would look lovely with this one. You can see the whole line here

Target quietly released an early fall Joanna Gaines’ Hearth & Hand line last week. It hasn’t all dropped yet, but I love this unique vase and this round bread board is such a great price!

I bought these flameless votive candles after sharing them earlier this week and I love them! And these gorgeous candleholders would be perfect for summer dinners outside. They’re giving Pottery Barn vibes for less!

I’m not typically one for faux plants outdoors, but if you have nothing but shade or can’t grow anything, they can come in handy. A friend of mine has these faux boxwood topiaries on her porch (and they’re adjustable!)

Last week’s best sellers: these gorgeous hand-painted vases (on sale) and this all-cotton throw (love!)

THINGS I’M WEARING/WANTING

You guys! I had planned to share this adorable linen top and then when I looked yesterday, it is now 70% off the sale price (that makes it like $26!!) Plus, I love the loose, casual shape vs. the typical button-down. Grab it!

Speaking of linen, my fave shirt style swimsuit cover-up (above) is finally back and on sale! After years of buying little dresses and other things labeled as cover-ups, I find this simple linen-blend shirt to be the most practical and chic!

This dress is so lovely and could be dressed up or down (and with 70% off the-o sale price it’s under $50!)

Could not love this tie-front blouse more!! So special and looks more expensive than it is.

Love this cute striped cotton cardigan for summer nights.

I tried a new-to-me tinted moisturizer by Nars that I’m loving! Perfect for summer and I like knowing I’m always wearing some sun protection.

Okay this straw bag is gorgeous (and happens to look exactly like The Rowe Emilie straw bag that is sold out – and was hundreds!)

Did you know jellies are back??!! You know, those adorable plastic fisherman style sandals we used to wear in the early 90s. They’re doing them in other shapes now – I particularly like this cute Mary Jane style.

I was such a huge fan of Kate Spade – her original ‘Sam’ bag was my first ever handbag splurge and I loved it so much. And now there’s a new book out by her best friend documenting their success in business, 40 year friendship, and Kate’s tragic death. It’s sad, funny, touching and inspiring. Loving it!

Last week’s best sellers: this pretty floral dress (under $80!) and this gorgeous midi dress (still on sale!)

THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING

I’m a little lacking in the watching department these days. But the good news about that is that I’m back into reading. And there is nothing like a good book in the summer!

I just finished Atmosphere (above), the newest book from Taylor Jenkins Reid and loved it. It’s definitely my favorite of hers. If you’re new to her, she also wrote The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones and the Six.

And this week I started another one I’m super excited about, Broken Country. It’s a love story and a thriller (be still my heart!) and a Reese’s Book Club pick (she’s never steered me wrong yet!)

THINGS I’M EATING/DRINKING

I’ve been wanting to spice up my summer recipe repertoire with some new dishes. This Skillet Street Corn Chicken sounds soo good, and I’d also like to try this Salmon Bowl with Avocado Mango Salsa (above).

  1. I had to buy the Kate Spade book! I cried at her passing. I think of her whenever I wear my Kate Spade tea party dress. I watched documentaries and felt so sad. I love her style and somehow felt a special connection. I can’t wait to read the book. I ordered same day delivery!

    1. Me too Debbie! She was so talented and such an inspiration. If you’re a podcast person there’s a great interview with her and her husband on “How I Built This”. It was really good and only a few years before her death.

      Hope you enjoy the book!
