Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration

Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!

So the kitchen is (mostly) installed and if you follow me on Instagram you already know this horrible news, but it was painted the wrong color! Ugh. I was back and forth between two whites they made samples of – BM Chantilly Lace and BM White Dove. I chose Chantilly Lace. They painted it White Dove.

And while I love White Dove and painted the rest of the house that color, the kitchen is north-facing and as such, a little dark. In the end I picked Chantilly because I thought it would help it feel brighter. 

So they are finishing the install today and they’ve offered to re-spray at their expense (I would hope so!), we just haven’t decided if we’re going to. One day I’m over it and thinking “it’s fine, let’s just leave it.” And another, I’m thinking it’s not right and I’ll regret it. Meanwhile, painters are back and are everywhere creating chaos and lots of dust. Did I mention I can’t wait to be done??!

THINGS I’M LOVING IN DESIGN/DECOR

In love with so much of this French country-inspired home in North Carolina!

Before we get started, let’s talk holiday decor! I’m not one to rush each season, but I have to be honest, the last few years some of the things I most wanted were sold out by the time I was ordering – in early November! I’ve also noticed that most of the major online sources I shop at dropped their holiday lines last week!

So having said that, I’m ordering a few of my have-to-have staples before they’re gone again this season, and I wanted to share them with you because I know some of you missed them last year, too! 

This garland is my favorite and looks amazingly real as does this simple cedar wreath (LOVE!) They’re worth every penny – I’ve been using them over and over for years now. The garland now comes in 3 lengths rather than only one. Another garland that people go crazy for is this one. I don’t own it but I’ve seen it and it’s fabulous, too. It’s another one that won’t be around long!

Anthropologie’s Christmas line is especially charming this year! (I’ll be sharing lots in my French Christmas post!)

I had someone ask me for some of my kitchen favorites on Instagram, so I thought why not share them here, too? Not only is it my favorite space in any house, but I’ve been very focused on ours lately (for obvious reasons!) So here are a few of my absolute favorite things!

Our everyday dishes are the bomb! I had purchased a more expensive set but they got black marks after less than a year so I set out to replace them. Our new set holds up like a champ, looks more expensive than it is, and I love the scalloped edge!

I splurged on this high-quality cutting board and we love it. So worth it!

This scalloped marble pinch pot looks soo cute next to the stove. I can’t think of much that I’ve bought that gives so much bang for so little!

Love our wood paper towel holder (30% off now). It’s the perfect color of wood, not too dark or too light.

Another small item that makes me so happy is this adorable spoon rest. Less mess and style equals a win/win!

On another note, I’m planning to do a family photo gallery wall in our stairwell and I just bought these gallery frames that were highly recommended. They look way more expensive than they are!

If you’re like me and need more storage, I’ve realize buying baskets in a set is often the way to go as you get much more for your money. Love this set!

THINGS I’M WEARING/WANTING

I saw this faux suede dress on a designer I follow and oh my gosh it’s so flattering and chic!

After analyzing what I need for fall, I’ve been looking for a pair of chocolate brown flats. Ordered this pair and this pair to see which fits better, and this Mary Jane flat is also super cute (and priced really well). I’m picturing them with creamy cashmere and jeans, as well as plaids and wool coats.

Quince sweaters are just the best and now that I’m facing colder/rainier winters, I’m stocking up! This boatneck is a favorite that I have in several colors, and I just ordered this oversized crewneck that I’m excited to try!

And J.Crew is having their fall 40% off sale! There’s lots of great finds, but I’m especially eyeing the jeans like this super cute flare jean, this slim wide-leg jean (above), and this favorite kick-out jean.

Love the idea of a barn coat that is warmer and this puffer version is perfection!

Last week’s best sellers: this chic cropped suede jacket and this adorable suede handbag.

 

THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING

I’ve always been a lover of fall, and the rich abundance of great movies is one of the reasons. I eagerly await seeing some actual, adult films!

This year looks especially promising (you can google trailers of all of these). There’s The Lost Bus (starring Matthew McConaughey about the 2018 Camp Fire), A Big Beautiful Journey starring Margot Robbie, the new Julia Roberts vehicle After the Hunt (above), Good Fortune, a modern-day ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, a new Bradley Cooper directed film, Is This Thing On?, and the one I’m most excited to see, House of Dynamite, directed by Kathryn Bigelow and getting lots of buzz! 

Looks like my Friday night movie line up is set for awhile!

 

THINGS I’M EATING/DRINKING

We’ve already had multiple days of rain this week, so I’m ready for soup! If it’s not cool enough where you live yet, save these for later. Some of our favorites are this yummy and easy Chicken Tortilla Soup and this incredibly delicious Cream of Wild Mushroom Soup. And I’m dying to try this Creamy White Bean Lemon Pesto Orzo Soup (above).
