I wish I could say my kitchen was fully in, but alas, that is not the case. But, the counters will be installed a week from Monday, which means it will be fully operational two days later, yay!!
Last weekend we went to a wine tasting event which was super fun, especially since we had the most beautiful weather. Rain came again this week, but today our sun has returned. Not only do I love sunny weather at any time, but right now we need to keep every window open to air out the house! Happy to report we have sun and no rain for the next 8 days and I couldn’t be happier!
And now let’s talk French finds, some holiday decor, and lots more!

THINGS I’M LOVING IN DESIGN/DECOR
This gorgeous laundry room is just one lovely part of this French-inspired home.
I’ve found quite a few French-inspired things this week that I’m excited to share!
This lovely console table is made of solid wood and is under $300! Perfect for a small entry or corner space you need to fill. This side table is also solid wood and in the running for our living room. I’ve been scouring for side tables as I need three for the new house!
It might not be technically ‘French,’ but this scalloped basket is utterly charming (and also a generous size!) (This shop is a new one to me with lots of great things). More scallops here in these darling bowls – LOVE!!
I also love this adorable trinket dish with the French saying! 🙂 It makes a perfect small gift or stocking stuffer.
I love a good ‘dupe,’ but I love it even better when it’s the exact same item for less! This doormat is classic and classy, and you can find it for half that price at Amazon!
And though I’m not buying much Christmas yet, I wanted to share that Quince carries Christmas trees now! This one looks gorgeous, gets great reviews, and as expected, is an exceptional price! We need a new one as our ceilings are lower here and I’m definitely considering it. Everything I’ve gotten from them has been great quality.
It’s strangely difficult to find small wreaths, and I love to use them on cabinets, the backs of chairs, or small mirrors. This set of four is a great price and is sure to sell out!
I noticed some serving pieces are on sale for a limited time at McGee. LOVE the vintage vibes of these transferware plates and platter set. They would be gorgeous to use for the holidays!
Last week’s best sellers: this gorgeous wool rug (on sale!) and this lighted wreath.
THINGS I’M WEARING/WANTING
It would shock no one who knows me in real life that I became obsessed with a piece of clothing from a show, haha! Let me explain.
When I watched the first season of Nobody Wants This (above), I fell in love with this fair isle sweater that Kristen Bell was wearing. It’s not something I’d even worn before, but it just looked so cozy, classic, and chic at the same time. Well it turned out I was one of many who was looking for it!
The bad news was it was Ralph Lauren, very expensive, and sold out. The good news was that it created a bit of a renaissance for the lowly fair isle sweater! So now that it’s fall, I’m on the hunt again and found several pretty options. I’m totally crushing on this cardigan version, love this gorgeous version in blue, and this cardigan is a real steal if you don’t want to invest a lot!
This waxed cotton jacket is perfect for fall layering and this faux cropped leather jacket looks way more expensive than it is!
I’ve been waiting for J.Crew’s faux leather pants to go on sale, and this week they finally did! Loving this straight leg pair (30% off), and this kick-out cropped pair (30% off) is super cute – especially loving it in the navy!
This week I started doing just a little holiday gift buying. I came across this travel bag set and this medicine bag and honestly, could not love them more! I bought one set for myself and one for my daughter for Christmas. 😉
New foundation? Yes, please! I haven’t worn foundation in years. Not because I don’t like it, but because I just never got around to getting a new one after my old favorite was discontinued. I love the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer for everyday, but really needed something more polished for events or nights out. This Nars foundation came highly recommended and I’m not disappointed!
Last week’s best sellers: this gorgeous oversize cashmere crewneck (2nd week in a row) and my favorite bootie.
THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING
I’m sure you heard about the sad passing of Diane Keaton last weekend. It’s not often that I’ve felt this way about the death of a celebrity, but this one really affected me. And I know that I was not alone by the amount of tributes I saw on social media. She seems to have affected women of all ages and stripes.
Somehow, we all felt a kinship with her, and I think it’s because she was a such a girl’s girl. Her honesty and vulnerability made us love her, and more importantly, trust her. She was an icon and a true original, and she will be missed terribly. So in honor of her, I’ll be indulging in some Diane Keaton movies this weekend. Something’s Gotta Give was apparently her personal favorite, and it’s also mine. (Ironically, we recently watched The Godfather which was her first big role and loved seeing her in that!)
And if you haven’t read any of her books, they are so good! I read her first book, Then Again, many years ago and laughed and cried, and laughed again. I also somehow missed that she came out with a fashion book last fall?!, so I’ve ordered Fashion First. And her memoir, Brother and Sister, is about her relationship with her only brother and sounds beautiful and moving.
THINGS I’M EATING/DRINKING
Is it soup time where you are yet? It’s been so cold and rainy here already, I can’t wait to start making soup once the kitchen is finished! Usually in the fall and winter months I try to make soup at least once a week.
Some of our favorites are this Roasted Tomato Basil Soup, this Italian Wedding Soup, and this Cream of Wild Mushroom Soup (above) is so yummy!!

I am so excited for your new home reveal! You have built up such anticipation through unexpected construction delays! I hope there are no more setbacks, so that you can get settled in and start making soup in your new kitchen!
Aww thank you Debbie! I hope I haven’t gotten your hopes up too much haha, it’s a little unfinished at the moment! The kitchen will be lovely but changing out furniture, getting wood trim in, and choosing the right art is going to take more time than I thought. Everything does not fit the same so it’s a process!

Thank you for sharing that French inspired house. Every room, every detail is swoon worthy.
I read Mean Girls over 50. It’s a sad testament to our society when we can’t appreciate someone’s ability, talent, looks, etc but instead find something to put down. I think many lurk behind their computers, out of sight. Their comments hurt. It must be hard to put yourself out there and not take the comments personally.
I’m looking forward to your new house reveal. I know it will be wonderful.
Oh gosh Joanna, I couldn’t agree more. Reading it made me incredibly sad for where we are as a society, and especially for my daughter. I think her generation is less that way – or at least I pray so.

Want to ask a question and totally know that you are slammed and obviously, just taking a chance. NO PRESSURE!
I am getting divorced and just bought MY OWN little house and am SO excited-yay me. All I have been dreaming of is having a sweet, ballet pink sofa. I have three daughters and although 2 are in college, I know they are never really leaving ;). So, I was this house pretty and girl and soft and French and clean. Long story short…I have wanted the Shabby Chic T arm sectional in ballet pink in a sectional. We have it in the light blue in a shared home that he is keeping. Is there any other similar, possibly less expensive piece that you might recommend? A particular brand? I have looked at SOOOOO many, but feel like I know I am missing so many and thought perhaps you might know. I know this is crazy. But you help me with bar stools recently, so I thought I would try and pick your brain again. Again, NOW WORRIES if not. I love Fridays for your newsletter! I love your recommendations. So sorry I didn’t get a chance to answer this sooner! First of all, good for you for making your place sweet and soft and pretty – I’m sure it will be gorgeous! In answer to your question, I don’t know that I’m much help. I keep my sofas a looong time so I haven’t ordered very many. My most recent one was from PB and I’m very happy, but you would have to go look at fabrics to see if they carry anything in pink. I think Wayfair probably the absolute biggest selection so you might try there, too. For you it’s just really about finding a pink fabric you love!
