Happy Memorial Day weekend! Hope you all have something fun and/or relaxing planned. We’ve got a party to go to (very exciting since we don’t know that many people yet!), and tomorrow I’m going to the San Francisco Decorator Showcase. It’s a Victorian mansion in Pacific Heights and the views look so amazing! 

And it’s the official start of summer – at least for me! So, it’s all-summer-all-the-time over here for the next few months. On that note, I’ll be sharing lots of great summer finds today, as well as all the best Memorial Day sales!

THINGS I’M LOVING IN DESIGN/DECOR

Love this adorable breakfast area in this renovated European-country home.

Before we talk summery finds, I have to share the good news! After way too many months of indecision, I’m finally ordering window coverings. In the past, I did a lot of custom draperies and since discovering Two Pages, I’ve never looked back.

They are made-to-order and look nearly as good as custom. And honestly, they are a fraction of what I would pay to do custom and with us needing something on every single window here (hello ugly blinds!), this will make it way more affordable. (And by the way, you can have them come and measure making it basically custom for an extra fee). I’m doing a mix of drapes and relaxed roman shades, all in a neutral or off-white linen. Can’t wait to share once they’re done!

Lots of sale finds this weekend!

Outdoor pillows are one of those things that I tend to refresh every couple of years as they really take a beating in the California sun. The pom poms on this natural fiber outdoor pillow are absolutely charming (free shipping!). Also love the idea of a little color outside – this floral outdoor pillow (20% off) would work beautifully with this green patterned one (40% off now).

Do you use plastic or melamine plates when you entertain outdoors? I don’t have any and was thinking it’s about time – especially since what they make now is so darn cute! These adorable blue floral plates are on sale, as are these gorgeous brown toile plates!

One of my all-time favorite summer items that I talk about every summer is this portable outdoor table, and it’s currently 20% off! It’s small and perfect for the beach and things like concerts in the park. We’ve had ours for like 20 years and it’s still going strong!

I saw these cute copper garden stakes and had to get them (they were my Mother’s Day gift to myself 😉 ). I love that it comes with 40 and you can change the labels when you need to. We’ve planted most of our garden beds and I’m anxious to see how everything does!

A few things in our home that are now on sale: the rug I like so much I used it twice, our porch lights that I’ve re-ordered for this house, and our guest room bed is the same price I paid in 2023!

THINGS I’M WEARING/WANTING

Let’s start with J.Crew as they’re having a Memorial Day Sale with 40% off almost everything, and 50% off dresses. They haven’t had this high of a percentage off in awhile!

I love the J.Crew shorts as they are high quality (some of mine are years old!) My favorite basics are their chino shorts which come in 7″ length and a 4″ length (both 40% off right now).

For something a little dressier these pleated denim shorts (40% off) could not be cuter and these linen trouser shorts (40% off) are gorgeous! I love the idea of dressier shorts for date nights paired with a blazer or vest.

And these map-print shorts (40% off) are beyond adorable! Literally the perfect summer/vacation short!

Loving this lightweight pointelle cardigan (40% off), the contrast stitching on this cotton top (above – 40% off) makes it special.

I’m looking for dressy flip flops. Well, maybe not dressy, but a notch above my rubber ones that I wear to the beach! This leather pair is rated high, comes in several colors, and it’s 25% off (if you want the pale blue they are available in more sizes here), this pair is really pretty in the cream, and I heard about this pair twice in one week (and they’re under $50!) Decisions, decisions.

Banana Republic is having a rare sale for the weekend! I grabbed these classic and chic linen pants which at 30% off are a steal!

THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING

With Memorial Day comes the summer movie season and I’m here for it!

The new Spider-Man and Dune 3 might be the biggest releases, but the ones I’m most looking forward to are Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day (above – with Emily Blunt!), and The End of Oak Street starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor.

And there are more – movies starring Dustin Hoffman and Robert DeNiro, a Paul Rudd vehicle, a Ridley Scott film, and a new Robin Hood with Hugh Jackman. I will say it’s looking very promising!

 

THINGS I’M EATING/DRINKING

It’s Memorial Day weekend and if you’re cooking, I’ve got some great recipes for you to try! Ina Gartens’ Foolproof BBQ Ribs (above) are a favorite, we also love this Giada DeLaurentiis Grilled Chicken with Balsamic BBQ Sauce, and there’s nothing like this from scratch Creamed Summer Corn – it’s always a hit!
