Well summer has arrived with a vengeance. We went from cloudy and barely in the 70s for the last few weeks to over 100° practically overnight. Be careful what you wish for I guess! But this weekend we’re headed to a Wine and Food Festival which I’m excited about, and it’s supposed to cool down starting tomorrow.
In other news, our kitchen garden is flourishing! Everything is growing so fast I just know when it starts producing it’s going to explode. It has been really fun to watch them grow, and so satisfying, too. I’m excited to start cooking with it all which should be happening pretty soon!
And now let’s talk Friday Favorites which is full of lots of summery inspiration – and my summer bucket list!

THINGS I’M LOVING IN DESIGN/DECOR

It’s time to up my summer candle game! I’ve been buying the same two for years now and I’m ready for a change. Anthropologie has 30% off them right now so it’s the perfect time to try something new – this candle has 5* reviews and comes in a gorgeous vessel, and this one also sounds yummy (and is another pretty vessel)!
McGee is having a big outdoor sale right now, so if you’ve been stalling on your outdoor spaces, now’s the time! This stunning planter is 40% off and gives a European vibe, my favorite wicker side table and matching dining chairs are 50% off, this lovely lounge chair is 40% off, and I just ordered these pretty napkins (40% off). Pottery Barn is also having up to 50% off outdoor here.
Other new PB sale finds: these scalloped ceramic pieces are darling and 20% off! Comes in a bowl or vase shape. Also love these blue and white vases – 30% off now!
I adore this scalloped rattan mirror! And you guys know I love a rattan vase but so many of them are so pricey. These are priced well and I love the size! (some are just too big)
I’ve been waiting for these gorgeous marble hurricanes to go on sale so I could share them with you! So good!

I don’t know if you remember that two years ago I made a ‘summer bucket list.’ I loved writing it down, and much like resolutions, I think we did more of the items on it just because it was written down in black and white. Last year was impossible with the move to do almost anything, but this year I’m back on it!
And since you all asked what was on it back then, I thought I’d share it this year, too. And I’d love to hear if you do anything similar, or if you have fun summer things to do that I should add!
Summer Bucket List
- Find the best ice cream shop in our area (lots of tasting involved, haha!)
- Go to the farmers market & plan a dinner with what we buy
- Go hiking around Mt. Tam
- Bring a picnic dinner to a concert in the park
- Indulge in a spa day
- Make cold brew coffee
- Have an alfresco dinner party
- Visit Pt. Reyes and spend the day exploring
- Make homemade ice cream at least once
- Explore Dillon’s beach
- Go to the library and rent some actual books
- Make at least one fruit pie/dessert
- Take a trip!
THINGS I’M WEARING/WANTING
Random fun finds this week!
Love a good t-shirt that has a little something going on and this tee has a charming ruffled sleeve and comes in tons of colors.
This adorable cotton blouse might just be the perfect summer top! (love the navy and the blue print)
Another cute summer top is this adorable blouse (30% off now) that arrived last week. It’s so chic – the buttons in the back are everything! (runs small – order one size up)
And the perfect coverup dress that’s 50% off!
Summer sandals, yes please! This leather pair is cute and looks comfy, love the flowers on these raffia sandals (vacation ready!), these sandals are so pretty and versatile (and have sold out almost everywhere!), and I love these updated Birkenstocks with the big buckle (especially cute in the white).
White jeans are a summer must – I wear them so much that I’m always looking for new pairs and it doesn’t get any cuter than these! Love.
And did you know AG Jeans has an outlet?! They are one of my favorite brands – how did I not know this? This flowy pair (40% off) that I’ve been eyeing seems just right for summer.
I’ve been looking for a striped blue and white cotton sweater – it’s the quintessential summer sweater and is the perfect pairing with white jeans! It started when I saw this one (above) but it was more than I wanted to spend – just ordered this Quince version (under $50) to see what I think!

THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING
Ooh there is just nothing like summer books. I would argue that the summer blockbuster movies that we used to all wait for has been replaced by summer books (at least for me!)
And lucky for me my favorite author, Ann Patchett, just released her new book! Her last book, Tom Lake, is one of my favorites of all time so I was eagerly waiting.
This one, titled Whistler, is both devastating and uplifting, and her prose is unfailingly beautiful, as always. I’m having to stop myself from devouring it so that it doesn’t go too fast!

THINGS I’M EATING/DRINKING
I love salads and we eat a lot of them, especially in the summer. This Chinese Chicken Salad (above) from Bobby Flay is a summer favorite over here. It’s so yummy and healthy, too.
And I’m dying to try this Salmon Niçoise Salad. I often order Niçoise salads in restaurants but have never made one!
RANDOM THOUGHTS
I’m in love with this kitchen from a new-to-me designer!
Do you have your wedding china, or dishes you inherited from your grandmother but you never use? Break them out! This weekend. Set a pretty table and enjoy them. Even if you eat BLTs or takeout on them. Life is short. It’s time to romanticize the regular days. 🙂

Funny how the American versions of the salade niçoise are all sooo different from the authentic French. In Nice I’ve never seen any potatoes, cooked veggies / green beans or lettuce on any of them. As for the protein, it was either anchovies or tuna, and the dressing was always just a local olive oil, a touch of salt and maybe a bit of vinegar.
I like any version!! I’ve had canned tuna versions that I’ve loved but I have to say a salmon makes it so delicious! And I love the potatoes, too. 🙂
