Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration

Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!

Hope you all had a wonderful long weekend last week! We had a really nice Fourth, and then I spent 3 full days with just my girl and it was the best! We shopped, ate, did a little wine tasting, and rented some movies. My heart is full.

Summer has finally arrived here, which means our cloudy, gloomy mornings have been replaced by sun and I’m not mad about it. Though talk to me in August when it’s been hot for weeks and I might feel otherwise, haha!

And now, let’s talk Friday Favorites!

THINGS I’M LOVING IN DESIGN/DECOR

As much as I love seeing large ‘dream home’ tours, it’s so nice to see a lovely designed home that’s a more modest size. This one is full of pretty details!

A touch of blue and white is soo pretty in the summer don’t you think? Found some gorgeous pillows on Etsy that I’m loving – this one is so unique and the pintuck details on this one make it special!

I’d love to add a console table to our outdoor area once the back deck is refinished – looking at this teak table that is well-priced and gets great reviews, or this pretty outdoor teak console table, also on sale.

And if you’re looking for a gorgeous outdoor teak dining table, this one is a favorite and it’s currently 30% off! Love.

Pottery Barn has some incredible markdowns right now. These marble handled cheeseboards are gorgeous, and now under $30! Not only would they be lovely for charcuterie and all manner of entertaining, but what a great gift! Also, if you love linen napkins like me, this set is so charming and half off!

Random find: Just ordered some of these woven trivets recommended by Nancy Meyers’ daughter. I love that they come in different sizes!

Last week’s best sellers: this pretty art print and this highly-rated potting bench (3rd week in a row!)

THINGS I’M WEARING/WANTING

Did you notice that longer/Bermuda style shorts are back? Are you in or out on this trend? I’m seeing them everywhere and all with high ratings – and so many are sold out! I have to say I do like them –  I wore them non-stop in the 90s! Plus, they’re chicer than short-shorts and easy to wear.

I recently saw a great outfit someone wore in Europe with beige linen Bermuda shorts combined with a white airy top and it was perfection. It looked casual yet chic, and very ‘summer in Europe’ which I’m not doing, but wish I was. 😉

For our purposes we’re talking shorts that are between 7″ – 9″ inseam (that’s mid-thigh to just above the knee depending on your height). I just ordered this pleated linen pair (under $60), this viral pair comes in 5 colors, and I love the slightly longer Reformation version, this linen pair is another pretty option.

J.Crew just dropped a new line! I’m mad about this embroidered top and pant set (above) – sold separately so you can wear them together (soo cute!) or mix and match them with other items. Other favorites include this short-sleeve crochet cardigan, this perfect open-knit sweater, and I love this fish pendant necklace for summer! “Fish” necklaces seem to be hot this year and this is an affordable way to embrace the trend!

I’m desperate for some cute summery jackets – it really cools down here at night and my other ones feel too heavy and/or dark. Love this take on an updated denim jacket, this lighter denim jacket is also cute and 30% off, and this linen bomber is 40% off and a good neutral.

Last week’s best sellers: this adorable striped sundress (40% off) and this elevated tee shirt (under $15 and almost sold out).

THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING

I’ve felt very low on shows to watch lately, so I started one that I kept hearing about called I Will Find You on Netflix. It’s an adaptation of a Harlan Coben novel, the 13th such novel to be adapted, actually. Though it does ask you to suspend your disbelief (a lot!), it’s engrossing and I do like the leads. It’s not going to win any awards, but it’s bingeable for sure!

My husband calls it a bon bon! 😉

THINGS I’M EATING/DRINKING

It’s peach season! One of my favorite parts of summer is when peaches and nectarines start appearing – they’re my absolute favorite fruits and I’m always looking for more ways to use them.

This Easy Ginger Peach Galette (above) looks so good, as does this Arugula Salad with Peaches, Goat Cheese, & Basil, and these Skillet Meatballs with Peaches, Basil, & Lime.

  2. Sheila,
Thanks for your posts every week. Did you do a home tour yet? I wasn’t sure if I missed it. I love seeing your decorating in your own home as you have great ideas.

    1. Hi Marjorie! Thanks so much for the kind words – I’m so glad you’re here!

I haven’t done a formal tour as I’m still buying furniture, planning, and waiting on window coverings. But I will! In the meantime, I did show the kitchen and most of the living room in my Christmas tour in December, and of course, I show the kitchen over on Instagram. More to come though, I promise!

      Happy Friday!

      Sheila

  3. PB is having some great clearance! That marble board is beautiful at such a great price! I missed that in my page scrolling. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Right?! The regular price wasn’t even high, and the sale price is SO good!

      Happy Friday JC!
