Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration
Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!

We are back from our final trip of the summer! Though these few trips were short, they were so lovely. We’ve had several summers in a row with no travel at all so this really felt like a treat! Our weekend on Whidbey Island was really fun – we loved the island, the towns are adorable with lots of great shopping and restaurants, and we even snuck in a pretty hike through a sculpture forest (so cool!) I’d love to go back!
To note, I am feeling pretty under the weather so if my post seems blah or I have more spelling errors than normal, you’ll know why!
And now, let’s talk Friday Favorites!

THINGS I’M LOVING IN DESIGN/DECOR

Love this pretty remodel in Dallas – especially the breakfast room and kitchen!
Strangely I seem to be someone who has come to love doormats, how random is that? I think because for a relatively small investment it changes the whole look of the front of your house! I came across this cute floral doormat this week and I’m so smitten. Love the green – it doesn’t look too springy or too fall-ish – it’s the Goldilocks of doormats! (and great if you’re someone who doesn’t love plain)
I’m really wanting a gold mirror – for either over the fireplace or in our powder room – or maybe both. While I wait for the perfect antique mirror to appear in my life I’ve been scouting around and found some options. This classic French style mirror is similar to the one I had in my former bathroom but it’s solid wood (and a great price), and a friend has this slightly narrower mirror (20% off – comes in several sizes) in her living room and it’s very pretty.
I’m not doing a ton of fall yet, but I am looking for new pillows. I found this pillow this past week when I was working on yesterday’s post and I’m in love! The soft fall tones are so gorgeous and it’s a great price, too.
Have you guys seen this Target vase? I kept seeing everyone sharing it on social media and had to order it. I’m telling you, it is good! It’s giving Pottery Barn vibes – stunning and classic style for $30! Love it.
If you’re craving fall but aren’t quite ready to decorate yet, do what I do and bring out the fall scented candles and soaps! I love Williams Sonoma pumpkin hand soap, and I just found this pumpkin soap at Anthropologie that gets rave reviews, comes in a glass bottle (which I love), and is 30% off!
And I found a cute marble soap tray to put them in!
Love this rattan log holder and it’s now 25% off – just in time for fall/winter!
Best sellers in August: this pretty pillow was the number one seller of the month! You also loved this adorable scalloped bathmat, this gorgeous throw (half off now!), this teak bench I ordered for the backyard, and this stunning vase (way less than it is at McGee!)
THINGS I’M WEARING/WANTING

Need a bridge between summer and full-on fall clothing? Today we’re sharing some things perfect for late summer/early fall! Let’s start with jackets – the work-horse of fall!
A few casual but elevated options – perfect for everyday life and fall weather. Love this barn coat, this denim jacket is darling, and this chic short trench coat is TDF!
Brown and beige jeans are trending for fall and I couldn’t be happier! This flattering wide-leg jean in brown is sold out lots of places but still available here and 25% off! Also love this same jean in the dark tan shade.
I just adore this little chic denim top!
Love a plaid blazer (above) for fall and this one is perfect! (sold out last year)
This handbag is a great size and quality for the price – especially love the suede!
August Best Sellers: the top seller of the month was this blousy tee (40% off)! Runners up were this chic dress that looks more expensive than it is, this pretty knit cardigan, this high-quality designer dupe handbag, and this well-priced suede jacket (love!)
THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING

So I’ve run out of shows! Well, new ones at least. So now we’ve started watching some that we never saw, starting with Julia (above – Apple TV) which I kind of stumbled upon. This is a charming show about Julia Child and her husband Paul that follows their return to the U.S., and her starting her TV show. I love their relationship and of course, because I love her, it’s great fun. Also on a side note, I just rewatched the movie Julie & Julia and it is soo good! (also the perfect airplane movie!)
Others I’ve never seen but probably should! Game of Thrones, Grace & Frankie, The Last of Us, Baby Reindeer, and Veep. I know! The fact that I’ve never seen Thrones or Veep is weird. Do you have any ‘big’ shows that you never saw?? Or recommends? Share them! 🙂
THINGS I’M EATING/DRINKING

Looking for new chicken recipes? I was and found a few good ones that I’ve added to the rotation. This Roasted Chicken with Fennel and Peaches (above) is so good, and my son and his girlfriend made us this Sheet-Pan Chicken with Tangy Greens last weekend and we loved it.
I’m also excited to try this Chicken au Poivre – it’s a riff on Steak au Poivre which is one of my favorite dishes ever!
