Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration

Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!

It’s July!! Do you feel like summer is already flying by? We have yet to take a vacation and my kids only just got home so to me, it feels like it just began. We’re hoping to go away for a quick weekend to Santa Barbara next week which I’m looking forward to.

Do you have any travel plans? What about the Fourth? Hosting? Going to a BBQ? We’re headed to the Hollywood Bowl for a show and fireworks which I’ve never done, so I’m excited about that!

And now, let’s talk Friday Favorites! I’ve got lots of fun things to share this week!

THINGS I LOVE IN DESIGN/DECOR

If you’ve been reading the newspapers or perusing social media, you might have already seen Nancy Myers remodeled home as it’s been featured everywhere over the last week or so! As you may know, I’m a huge fan of her movies as well as her taste in interiors, and this home does not disappoint! So if you haven’t seen it, you have to check it out!

Her movie interiors have a cult following in their own right. (I’ve even been known to watch her movies just to drool over the interiors again and again!) You can get the skinny on why everyone loves her movie homes and read about her most iconic movie interiors here.

As this is a big sale weekend, I thought I’d share some of the sales I’m most excited about and one of them is Ballard Designs. Ballard’s is one of my absolute favorite online sources and they’re having 20% off sitewide!

I get a ton of questions about this little side table I have in my living room. It’s got classic French styling and the price is amazing! More favorites are this fab French mirror (that price!), my favorite serving bowl and serving utensils, and this console table is a dupe for the Restoration Hardware one for much less!

And a couple more great decor finds: I just ordered these fab rustic vases (30% off), this classic chair at an amazing price, this decorative stone ball, and I love these amazing garden sculptures (20% off)- I’ve been waiting for them to go on sale – yay!! I’m also channeling that Nancy Myers kitchen style – loving both of these European-inspired hanging baskets here and here (either would be so cute in a pantry!)

THINGS I’M WEARING/LOVING/WANTING

Once summer arrives I’m somehow all about white. White tops, jeans, dresses – I love it all! This week I found this adorable top, this great linen shirt (love it in black, too), and these tops come in both black and white here and here (and priced so well!), as is this white linen blazer.

I just ordered this simple A-line dress in black (but it also comes in 11 other patterns/colors), love these cute layered necklaces here and here (on sale!), and this adorable sandal is 40% off and comes in 5 colors!

THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING/LISTENING TO

Recently I heard an interview with Stanley Tucci on one of my favorite podcasts, How to Fail. And though I knew him as an actor, I was pleasantly surprised by how interesting and down to earth he is! He was talking about his new book called Taste: My Life Through Food, and seeing as it’s about one of my favorite subjects (food!), I had to buy it. And it’s as good as I expected. It’s a memoir of sorts, with stories of his Italian-American childhood, the death of his first wife, his recent bout with cancer, as well as family recipes and more.

And that led to me checking out his show, Searching for Italy. Have you seen it? It’s so wonderful! His passion for food and culture really shows through. I’m thoroughly enjoying it! (By the way, he’s in two ‘foodie’ movies that are both really good. Julie & Julia is fabulous if you’ve never seen it – he plays Paul Child, Julia’s husband – and Big Night).

THINGS I’M MAKING/EATING/DRINKING

I have to share the cocktail I posted this week, my Strawberry Mojito recipe. They are minty, refreshing, and delicious! And easy, too – you can get the printable recipe here. I’ve made them twice since I posted the recipe, and look forward to making them again this weekend!
