Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!
We’ve had a great week here having my oldest home, and my youngest comes home from college (he was doing summer school) this weekend! I always love a full house and I’m treasuring these years with them since I know eventually there won’t be any ‘coming home’!
I’m starting to hear rumblings of fall in Blogland and on Instagram! And though I will start earlier than some because it’s my job, this is just a little too early – even for me! We’ve got 6 more weeks of summer fun and that special feeling that only summer brings, so why rush it? I’m still enjoying the warm weather and my new outdoor sofa, haha!
So this week I’ll still be talking summer-ish things, as well as some basics, and favorites you’ve had over the last few weeks!

THINGS I LOVE IN DESIGN/DECOR
Love this pretty kitchen with that gorgeous blue tile by Marie Flanigan. You can see the whole home here.
Love the texture of this great little basket (Wouldn’t it be perfect in a bathroom or to hold remotes on the coffee table?) And this lantern pendant light is a great dupe for the pricey version (so chic!)
These reversible pillows give such a great Serena & Lily look for less! Large square here (also comes in blue) and lumbar here. Either would look great with this pretty cream one, too.
This week I was filled with a desire to get new bathroom waste baskets and found this cute wicker one, along with a matching tissue box cover. Small changes but they made the bathroom look so much fresher!
Best Sellers in July: the number one seller all month was these adorable French wine glasses (on sale for a steal!) You also loved these etched floral wine glasses (cheap dupe for Williams Sonoma), and this stunning bed (at an amazing price!)
THINGS I’M WEARING/LOVING/WANTING
Looking in my closet this week made me realize I’m short on short-sleeved tops. You know, not a tank or a tee, but a cute, summery top or blouse.
Just bought this gorgeous top (love!), and this floral one (50% off) is absolutely adorable and it doesn’t get much prettier than this floral one. I’m especially fond of white tops in summer, like this one or this one (30% off).
And as you know I love black and white for summer. Crisp and clean it just makes you feel cooler! I found the cutest pair of wide leg white pants (love!) Wouldn’t they look so chic with this black top (under $25!) or this one? (love that they’re both cotton!)
And I just plucked up these versatile well-priced sandals from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale which is on for only 2 more days!
Best Sellers in July: this adorable 14K gold-filled monogram necklace, this breezy linen shirt, and this gorgeous suede bootie.
THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING/LISTENING TO
Season 3 of Dream Home Makeover just dropped this week!!! (Yes, I’m a little excited, haha!) I love everything Shea McGee does and the show is a great way to see more details of her process, as well as her relationship with her cute husband. There are only 6 episodes so I’m trying to pace myself!
THINGS I’M MAKING/EATING/DRINKING
It’s summer tomato time! Is there anything more delicious than a fresh-grown tomato? We grow a few but I also buy the heirloom varieties as much as I can. We love them and they are here for such a short time!
A few favorite recipes are this easy Tomato and Feta Salad, this classic Panzanella Salad, and this no cook Pasta with Tomatoes.
My friend Loi shares his beautiful home and gardens on Instagram.
This might be my most random share ever, haha, but here goes! We’ve had tons of mosquitos this year (not a common occurrence in Ca!) and I’ve been bitten approximately 3,721 times. Finally fed up I found this amazing tool and it’s a game-changer! Use it right after you get bitten and it really helps.

Love that blue tile in that kitchen! Not too much but it really adds something to the white kitchen for sure.
Always short on tops for summer and these are so cute!
We do have 6 more weeks of summer but boy am I shopping for my fall florals or baskets (which are a bit hard to find now with shipping from over seas woes)…so I’m trying to get ahead start on that.
The Home Design show I will have to set to record. Inspiration is a good thing. I love watching House Hunters too as I get a sense of life in other states/cities. Boy is it a different way of life in (cost wise/house options) in many coastal areas. We have so much more house here in the Midwest..land too for a much lower price. Enjoy the rest of your summer Sheila! Thanks for always giving us some decor ideas!
Thanks for all the input Lori – so appreciate it! I’m so glad you love that kitchen too. It wouldn’t be the same without that blue tile! And I love that you’re shopping for fall already – you’re a woman after my own heart! 🙂
