Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration

Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!

This week really has me ready for the weekend! It’s been sweltering here and the heat has really gotten to me (not to mention my many mosquito bites, haha!) But my youngest is still here for another 10 days and my daughter comes home from her internship this weekend!! I’m really looking forward to having two home at once! 🙂

And now let’s talk Friday Favorites!

THINGS I LOVE IN DESIGN/DECOR

I love designer Amber Lewis’ beautiful vintage-y aesthetic. How pretty is this bathroom? You can see the whole home here.

For those of you who are here every week, I’m sure you remember I’ve been looking for rugs for both the living room and the family room forever! I finally ordered one for the FR and it was supposed to be here in May. Unfortunately, it’s now delayed even longer and won’t be here until at least October.

So…. though I do love it, I’ve been looking again. Not only because I still need one for the LR, but also because I’m obsessed with vintage Turkish rugs and have been thinking maybe that’s the direction I should be going! I love how Amber Lewis uses them in almost every space (like the above) and how much character it adds. I ordered one small one on Etsy that I’m using in the powder room, so I’m tempted to do a bigger one now. Decisions decisions.

In the meantime, there are a few ‘new’ rugs that give that vintage look and style that I’ve been eyeing. I love this one, and I just ordered a sample of this rug and it’s stunning! Also this one and this one are both gorgeous and very affordable. And if you’re interested in the vintage, I ordered from this seller previously and this seller has a lovely collection.

And though I haven’t started decorating for fall yet, as a blogger I do need to plan ahead and I’ve begun to do just that. I’ll probably do something very similar to last year, using slightly muted versions of traditional fall colors. Also, if you don’t plan ahead, I find everything sells out so quickly now, and shipping can be slow these days!

Right now I’m eyeing this pillow (I saw it in store and it’s gorgeous) and how cute would it be with this one?! And I’m unable to resist this line of rustic terracotta pottery (again, I saw it in store and it’s stunning!) I purchased this vase and this large bowl, and the urn is equally beautiful. The colors are so muted and the pieces really look vintage – love!

THINGS I’M WEARING/LOVING/WANTING

Have you guys traveled this summer? We haven’t done much yet because my husband has been out of town working, but we’ve got two trips planned for September and October! So I’m looking at getting a few things that would be perfect for late summer/early fall.

This cute sweater  (30% off) is a perfect bridge between the seasons and I love that it’s all cotton. And how cute is this short trench coat??! Seriously crushing on it and I love that the shorter length means it could be worn more. And I just ordered these leather cropped pants! This line gets rave reviews and the idea of leather in a cropped length is so cute and like the coat, seems more seasonless.

I also finally bought a cashmere wrap! I’ve been wanting one forever and it’s 35% off today. Love the idea of having this for the plane as well as a wrap in the evening. So many ways to use it! (FYI: this cashmere poncho could also be used as a wrap and is only $69!)

I got a new pair of my favorite flats (classic and so comfortable!) as well as a new pair of my fave All Birds. If you’ve never owned them – you need to! Those along with these pretty suede heels (great height and on sale now) and this absolutely-perfect-for-travel handbag and I’m set!

THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING/LISTENING TO

Have you guys seen Severance? I’d been hearing about it all spring but never got around to watching it. Wow! It’s a fascinating premise and is eerily unsettling, in the best way.

THINGS I’M MAKING/EATING/DRINKING

If you missed last summer’s How to Host a Grilling Night post, be sure to check it out. There are three delicious recipes that are easy enough for a weeknight but elegant enough for company (my personal favorite is the Peach & Burrata Salad above).

And in honor of peach season, I’m sharing a few more fab recipes that involve my favorite summer fruit!

This Peach Crostata looks amazing as does this Grilled Pound Cake with Peaches. I’m dying to try this Pork with Peaches and this Peach, Onion & Bacon Salad.

  1. Just ordered the cashmere wrap. I have been eyeing this one since last year. Best price so I grabbed it. Plan to use it on the plane. Love all the fun favorites. Have a great weekend!

    1. Yay!! Me too! Did you read the reviews? People say they never pill, wash well and last for years. Double yay for us! 🙂

      Happy Friday!

  2. Thanks for the introduction to Amber Lewis! Her style is kind of like Old World meets modern with a twist of Mediterrean. Definitely some inspiration! I’m seeing a bit more wood and brown tones mixed in this fall….so cozy. Also, looking forward to checking out Scout& Nimble. I did see a marble cookbook stand on clearance from them that caught my eye. Following both on Pinterest now! Love your rug choices! I’m still debating about my hallway rug. I wish I could get samples of all rugs. I like to see it in person. That’s what I appreciate about PB. By the way, your first rug link to PB didnt seem to go directly to your choice. I’d love to see what you are eyeing.
Also, did you see JCrew also has a wrap type poncho in cashmere on clearance? They have…..at least they did the other day a yummy fall green one for $69! Thanks, as always, Sheila. I always look forward to Friday Favorites and all the inspiration! Enjoy your weekend with your kids!

    1. Thanks for the kind words JC! And I agree about the rugs!! I always order a sample. Or I sometimes order a 2 x 3 or whatever is the smallest size. I need to see it in the space first! And yes I saw that wrap and almost got it too! It’s cute and a great price.

I checked the PB link and it works for me – maybe try it again?

      Happy Friday to you!

      1. It worked! Thanks. Cell phone verses personal computer ;). Love all the rug choices. I’m excited to see what you end up with. Keep us posted!
