Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration
Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!
Well, it feels like summer is flying by! School has already started here and just hearing the kids on the playground has reminded me that fall is around the corner!
Some years I’m dying for fall, and others I’m more about savoring some more summer. And this year, well, I was enjoying summer but now it’s hotter than Hades here so that’s making me very ready for some cooler sweater-weather!

THINGS I LOVE IN DESIGN/DECOR
I’m in love with this stunning kitchen – that stone!! See the rest here.
You guys know how much I love Studio McGee – their design as well as their online store. So when I find things on sale on their site, I’m always a little giddy! These baskets are on major sale at over 30% off and could be used anywhere (I saw the same ones in a local store for twice as much!) And these decorative wood bowls are half off (even the large one is under $25!) Love the texture and they’d make great gifts, too.
A couple other crushes are these pillow covers on sale; love this plaid, this subtle stripe, and I adore this one (not on sale but soo cute!) I also love the idea of mixing this soft green floral one with the other subtle fall colors – so gorgeous!
I am shopping fall a bit and transitioning slowly! Just ordered some of these gorgeous green linen towels for the kitchen! And how about this all-cotton throw for under $15?
THINGS I’M WEARING/LOVING/WANTING
I’m completely crushing on these wide-legged pants my friend turned me onto! She said she has them in 3 colors and that she never ceases to get a compliment if she’s out wearing them (sign me up!) I ordered them in khaki and black (plus they’re so reasonable!)
And for an early fall shoe, you can’t beat a mule! It’s less hot than wearing boots, yet covers the foot and is more appropriate than sandals as things cool down. This suede version is so pretty (love the tan and the olive green), or this one if you prefer a more pointed toe look. Also love the style of this loafer version (and the price!)
J. Crew just released a portion of their fall line and I’m eyeing this blouse (40% off) and this cardigan (35% off) – I love a little leopard print for the fall! And this versatile skirt I bought in black last season and love is back in yummy fall colors (also on sale)!
THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING/LISTENING TO
Having read Where the Crawdads Sing last fall, I was dying to see the movie when it came out. That is, until I read the reviews! They are all pretty bad, but my book club saw the movie and they all seemed to like it so I’m probably going to risk it, haha.
What I don’t want is for it to ruin the book which I loved! Have any of you seen it?
THINGS I’M MAKING/EATING/DRINKING
I scream for ice cream! 😉 As mentioned above, it’s sweltering here and has been for weeks so I’m onto the homemade ice cream bandwagon. There’s nothing like it!
My personal favorites are this Chocolate Hazelnut Gelato, this Fresh Strawberry Ice Cream (I omit the food coloring) and this Sour Cream Ice Cream (seriously transcendant!! And great on pie. 😉 ) I use this ice cream maker.
And I’m really curious to try this No-churn Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream or how about this Homemade Chocolate Frosty – both perfect if you don’t have a machine!

My book club read Crawdads and we overwhelmingly loved the movie! In this case we thought it was just as good as the book. I also think they are two separate genres that both have a place and I am not sure it is a fair comparison in the first place.
I did see the movie and it was – eh…OK but the book is always better than the
movie, isn’t it? I had forgotten a lot of the plot since I read it ages ago but I did like the cinematography since it was shot in a beautiful swampy area.
Yes, I totally agree Joan! Rarely is a movie as good as the book. I did hear it was shot beautifully and that her story was good. Every review I read said the courtroom stuff was the awful part. Maybe I’ll wait until it’s streaming, haha!
