Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration
Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, movies, podcasts, fashion finds and more! And though it won’t all be French, some of it definitely will!
Hi friends! I hope you’re all having a great week! If you follow me on Instagram then you know I’ve been a little laid up this last week – I injured my hip exercising and I’m supposed to be taking it easy (which isn’t easy for me!) But it does give me more time to write and catch up on blog posts, and find fun things to share, so there’s that!
We’ve had such nice weather – unseasonably cool – which is getting me so in the mood for fall! I kept saying I wasn’t ready but I’m definitely getting there now. How about you? Are you ready for a change of seasons or still holding onto summer?
Friday Favorites is where I share everything from a great decor find, to a favorite movie, recipe, or podcast, to a wonderful thing to wear – anything that strikes me as interesting or fun or that you might love, too! 😉
THINGS I LOVE IN DESIGN/DECOR
This outdoor living space is just one room from this stunning sea-island home. See the whole tour here.
I’m going to start sharing some fall decorating posts next week but in the meantime, I thought I’d share a few items I’ve just ordered and am loving! (Also, seasonal decor sells out super quickly these days so don’t wait to order, if you do, it will be too late!)
I love using wheat sheaves (bundles) for a natural fall look, I just ordered two of this wreath for the front doors, a sweater pillow is always a good bet for the fall season (and this one’s on sale), and this throw is currently on the sofa.
And I’m loving rust for this year! This pillow and this pillow would be adorable together on a sofa.
THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING/LISTENING TO
Have you guys seen The Lost Kitchen?! Okay, if not, you must! It’s one of the best cooking shows I’ve ever seen, but it’s not really about cooking. It’s the story of one woman overcoming adversity and her vision for the most unique restaurant I’ve ever heard of. And it’s in the most beautiful bucolic setting in Maine.
And she’s adorable. And truly inspiring. I devoured it!
And have any of you read The Last Thing He Told Me? I’ve just started it. Can’t. Put. It. Down!!!
THINGS I’M WEARING/LOVING/WANTING
J. Crew has long been one of my favorite stores, and they’re especially good at fall and winter wear!
Love these cropped jeans in black, this straight jean in a medium wash (and they’ve both got super great reviews!), this long sweater/coatigan is perfect for fall and has been on my wish list for awhile, and I have these cotton/cashmere sweats in both grey and black. Soo cozy and yet still stylish (but be sure to order down, they run large).
Lately I’ve been really crushing on the idea of a classic diamond tennis bracelet. They are very hot right now and needless to say, a real one was not in the cards. But I found this one on Amazon and I’m in love!
It looks great mixed with some of my gold bracelets and my stainless steel watch. It’s sterling silver so no worries about tarnishing and the CZ’s look so darn real. And it was less than half what most of the other CZ bracelets go for. Yay!
THINGS I’M MAKING/EATING/DRINKING
I love fresh peaches in summer and because it’s such a short season, I try to use them while I can! This pie looks delicious (and easy – no from-scratch crust involved!) I’ve also made this peach crisp, and I’m dying to try this pork with peaches and this fresh peach ice cream.
This dessert is ridiculously simple but oh-so-good. A favorite of my kids (and mine) and anyone who loves peanut butter. Oh wait, isn’t that everyone?! But beware – if you make it, it’s hard to stop eating them!
RANDOM THOUGHTS
Do you make your bed everyday? I do, but I didn’t used to. But now I think it’s one of the best ways to get myself started on a productive day. Read here to find out what your bed making (or not) reveals about you.
Do you have your wedding china, or dishes you inherited from your grandmother but you never use them? Use them! This weekend. Set a pretty table and enjoy them.
Even if you eat BLTs or takeout on them. Life is short. And I know those dishes don’t like just sitting in that dark cupboard. 🙂
And if you missed this week’s post, I shared 50+ Fabulous French Farmhouse Finds at Amazon!
Happy Friday!

Wow! So many great finds to enjoy the rest of summer and prep for fall. You are so right that seasonal items sell out quickly. I think it will be even more so this year. I LOVE Beth Webb’s designs. Her outdoor space and the entire home tour is beautiful. Her designs while neutral and minimal decor are still thoughtully modern and cozy.
Cashmere sweats😊! I think we all need a pair of those for the next season.😉 Thanks for sharing, Sheila, and I hope your hip feels better.
I’m so glad you love Beth Webb too – she’s so talented! And yes, the sweats are amazingly cozy!! (they’re actually a mix of cotton and cashmere though, so less expensive and a little more able to be worn year-round!)
Thanks for stopping by JC!
