Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!
It’s full-on holiday mode over here this week as I’ve spent the better part of the week setting up the big tree and decorating the rest of the house – I’ve been cranking the Christmas tunes and decorating like crazy!
Stay tuned because tomorrow I’ll be sharing the living and dining rooms!
THINGS I LOVE IN DESIGN/DECOR
Monika Hibbs is one of my favorite people to follow on Instagram and she does Christmas so well!
I’m continuing my gold/caramel holiday color palette in the living room and found this pretty and inexpensive gold bead garland for the tree (but you could drape this along a mantel, in a bowl – anywhere!) I also wanted some green in the space so I added this cute tree pillow.
And two of my absolute favorite online stores are having major early Black Friday Sales! McGee & Co is offering 30% off the whole site! I ordered this wood pedestal (comes in 3 sizes) for holding soaps next to the sink, these paper mache bowls look like my vintage one and they’re a steal at that price! I also love this large wood vessel (it would look amazing holding holiday greenery!)
I’m also in a bit of a frenzy to get things ready for family coming to stay next week. Remember last year when I refreshed my decades-old bath towels? Well, now I’m doing the same with my sheets! We have nice sheets on our bed, but every other bed in the house was pretty lacking! I did a ton of research before I purchased as there is a lot out there and I didn’t want to spend as much on the guest rooms as I did on ours.
Believe it or not, the most highly recommended budget set comes from JCPenney – who knew? I ended up ordering them, but also found these that are also highly rated for the price. And if you want to spend a bit more, we love our bamboo sheets!
THINGS I’M WEARING/LOVING/WANTING
This year our holiday plans are finally picking up – yay! We’ve got a few casual gatherings and I’m excited to put on something other than comfy sweats, haha! My go-to outfit when I want to look pulled together but not too dressed up is a pretty blouse, jeans and a blazer.
I absolutely adore this velvet jacket (50% off) and this one is similar and a great price! They can be dressed up or down, and velvet looks so good with jeans! These jeans are my go-to and these are a great price. Blouses can sometimes be hard to find but I love this dressier one (25% off), this one in red is stunning (50% off) and this one is perfect (50% off) if you’re feeling especially festive! Or, I might go with a dressier sweater (above) – I love that look!
Tie it together with a suede bootie (50% off) and elegant pave earrings here or here. Any combo of these are perfect for dinner parties, a holiday lunch, a cookie exchange, or even a casual Christmas Eve!
THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING/LISTENING TO
Dead to Me was an unexpected delight, so I’m especially excited to see it’s third and final season is here!
I also just listened to a new true crime podcast called What About Holly? and really enjoyed it.
THINGS I’M MAKING/EATING/DRINKING
To me, Thanksgiving is all about the sides!
Some of our favorites – this yummy Cranberry Conserve, these Parmesan Smashed Potatoes, these Mashed Sweet Potatoes, and this Spinach Gratin (so good!) And most importantly, this Pumpkin Cheesecake (though I do change it to a graham cracker crust)!
My friend Chell is an amazing designer – she does many of the UV Parade Homes. You can see her pretty Instagram account here.
Love Trader Joe’s Candy Cane JoJo’s as much as we do?? Here are 33 More Great Holiday Items They Sell!
If you didn’t get a chance to see it, I shared my French-inspired family room holiday tour on Monday – and it’s in a new color palette I’ve never used before!
