Friday Favorites – Weekly Inspiration

Welcome to Friday Favorites, a series where we share our favorite decor, design inspiration, fashion finds, TV shows, recipes and more!

After weeks of rain, hail and crazy weather (tornadoes in Los Angeles?!), I’m so ready for spring! This morning I woke to sun and it made my heart so happy. The thought of flowers blooming and birds chirping brings a smile to my face – which might be why I’m all about blooms, florals and gardens today! I can’t wait to work on ours, add some flowers and clean up the patio furniture (ours is a mess!)

So here’s to the official start of spring and some sunshine on all our faces… and Friday Favorites!

THINGS I LOVE IN DESIGN/DECOR

A pretty home tour with an utterly charming garden and outdoor living space!

Some of my favorite ways to freshen up for the spring season. Add an adorable doormat like my favorite French one (on sale for over 50% off!), this cute spring one, or this adorable Easter one that’s on sale. I also really love a simple one and this one is a classic.

Add plants in pretty baskets (one of my favorite looks!) like this interesting seagrass planter, this lined one on major sale, or this cool basket planter (25% off).

And as much as I love fresh flowers, I can’t buy them all the time so I do add some faux here and there. These faux cherry blossoms are absolutely stunning and I just bought the most amazing faux hydrangeas I’ve ever seen! Put them in a pretty vase (this one’s a steal!) for the simplest spring decor.

And I’d be remiss if I didn’t share these adorable bunny plates! If you’re hosting (or need a hostess gift for the event) it doesn’t get much cuter (and they’re on sale!) as is this cute bunny bowl

THINGS I’M WEARING/LOVING/WANTING

I’m having a bit of a crush on dresses lately. I mean, is there anything more spring-y than a breezy floral dress?

This dress would be stunning for a spring wedding or graduation, and this one has a more casual feel, I love any slip dress (such a classic and flattering style), and this dress is one of my favorites I’ve found in a long time (just ordered it!)

And are you familiar with Boden? It’s one of my favorite stores – they have such high-quality clothing and free shipping both ways. They’re having a sale right now and this linen dress caught my eye, as did this absolutely charming floral dress! (comes in black, too).

A couple of great random finds: this linen-blend blazer is the perfect thing to throw over a dress, shorts, or jeans and it’s 20% off (and gets 5* reviews!) This set of 3 chain bracelets is gorgeous and on sale for a great price, and I love this cute purse (on sale)! It’s not too big or too small and perfect for spring in the Sandy color!

THINGS I’M WATCHING/READING/LISTENING TO

The second season of Nate & Jeremiah Home Project is here and as good as ever! Even my husband who never really watches design shows comments on how talented they are. Plus, Jeremiah is the absolute sweetest. Beautiful design + inspiring stories = I’m watching!

THINGS I’M MAKING/EATING/DRINKING

I’m a huge coffee lover, and obsessed with improving our morning coffee situation. We have an espresso maker that we love and use for afternoon cappuccinos or lattes on the weekends. But in the morning, I like drip coffee. The problem is, lately it’s been tasting awful! So I’m on the hunt for a new machine. Deciding between this one and this one. I’m also doing all sorts of coffee research, including reading up on How to Make the Perfect Cup of Coffee. Apparently, I’ve been doing some things wrong!

In the meantime, I purchased a French press (ours was broken). We used to use it every weekend morning but I guess when it broke, I forgot to buy a new one, and we ceased to use it on weekends. It’s so much more flavorful!

Clearly, I need to make one of these homemade scones to go with my new, delicious coffee, don’t you think? 😉

  1. Hi Sheila! Yours is the only blog I read-and I wait for it every Friday! Love all your ideas!

Question for your ideas and suggestions—it’s graduation season for us and I’m trying to think of great hostess gifts for friends who are hosting parties for my daughter! What are the best current ideas for hostess gifts?! Thanks!

    1. Aww Brittany thank you – that is so kind! As for hostess gifts, I’ll try to include some ideas next week in Friday Favorites (thanks for the idea!) but I always like things like a pretty vase, a set of linen napkins, serving pieces like a bowl or tray, or a nice candle. Any of these would make a great hostess gift!

Congrats to your daughter and thanks again for your sweet comment – love having you here!
