I need to step away from any thoughts of decorating, or clothing, or errands, or “to do’s” today. Last night my beloved Golden Retriever, Scout, had a sudden and unexplained seizure. It was horrible.
To experience someone you love, human or canine, thrashing and drooling and unaware is just simply, terrifying.
Today I had planned on writing about something else, but I decided that this blog should reflect me and if it is going to do that, then today I need to share about him.
I fell in love with him as he slept in my arms the first day we had him, and he’s had me wrapped around his paw ever since. Because of him I have a special place in my heart for Golden Retrievers. They are truly, golden.
Today my thoughts are about him and all of the dogs that we make a part of our lives. For me, and many people I know, they are literally part of the family. They give us so much, and ask for so little in return. How many people can we say that about?

I am so sorry for your loss. Those of us who are lucky enough to have shared our life with a golden know how much joy they bring & how empty our heart is when they leave us. They are truly part of our family.

Thank you so much Barb – I so appreciate that. Even though we’ve since gotten a new Golden and I love him dearly, Scout has definitely left a hole in my heart. I still miss him so 🙁
