I’ve always stated that I’m forever a ‘white kitchen girl’ so you may think I’m eating my words! Not exactly.
I still love white kitchens, but I also love when they have some color mixed in as well. It’s refreshing to see all that white broken up a bit as it adds interest and warmth to an otherwise cold space. It could be an island painted blue or stained wood, or in this case, either some or all of the cabinets painted a warm greige color.
One of the best ways to keep a kitchen light and bright, yet bring in a little warmth, is to paint the cabinets a creamy beige or greige color. This can go anywhere from a warm, slightly darker cream, to full-on dark greige or taupe.
Or you can mix them. Paint some cabinets white while electing to don others in the greige color. Personally I love that choice. It’s kind of the best of both worlds!
So let’s take a peek at some of the most beautiful greige kitchen ideas out there!

One of the reasons it’s a great choice and has become popular is that greige blends beautifully with both warm or cool hardware tones, and it looks gorgeous with warm woods and marble.

Here the greige cabinets look stunning with that black range!

This is a very light version of greige – perfect if you’re not sure you want to give up the white! In fact, in some lighting situations they even read ‘white.’

We had cabinets close to this color when we moved here. I thought they were dirty and needed a good cleaning. To my dismay they were glazed that color. They truly did not go with any paint color we chose for the living area of this small open plan home. They made the whole house look dingy and dated. I grew to hate them. We finally took the plunge and had them painted. They were expensive wood cabinets in tip top condition so there was no justification for replacing them. We had them sprayed professionally.
It was like a breath of fresh air and my only regret is that we did not do it sooner! Think twice before going down this road.
Hi Margo! I’m sure it can be too much of a good thing, especially if it’s too dark of a beige. The only thing I would add is the glazing does look dirtier than simple paint due to adding that brown rustic glaze on top. If I do it, I’m thinking I will do just the island or one section, not the whole kitchen. I’m still a white kitchen lover!

I never would have thought I would like cabinets painted a greige color but I am in love with these pictures. They are absolutely stunning! We have cherry wood cabinets and I’ve been planning on a updated white kitchen, but now I may have to expand my choices.
Haha I felt the same way Nancy, but I’m a convert! I think you could do white on some and a lighter greige on some and get the best of both worlds!

Each kitchen is absolutely stunning! I do love the mushroom/griege cabinets too, but we ended up going with a soft, creamy white for our perimeter cabinets and a white oak wood island. I love it! Sheila, thanks for the decor styling ideas from these pictures. I’m going to need to go back and comb through each one!
I love creamy whites with wood – yours sounds gorgeous JC!!
