Fun & Creative Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
Looking for Mother’s Day gift ideas? We’re sharing lots of fun and creative gifts for mom, grandma, or any other ‘mother figure’ you might be buying for!

Mother’s Day seems to be one of those holidays that sneaks up on me. Many years I ended up sending flowers again because I waited too long and everything was sold out!
So this year I started a little earlier, and I set out to find fun, interesting, and beautiful gifts that any mom would want. So whether your mom is into the traditional gifts of jewelry or beauty items, is the creative type, or loves staying home, I think you’ll find the perfect gift for her!
And if you’re buying for your daughter, aunt, sister, or friend, there’s something for her as well. And of course, feel free to send this list to your husband, partner or kids. 😉
Plus, we’re sharing some additional creative ways to make the day more special!

IDEAS FOR MAKING THIS MOTHER’S DAY MORE SPECIAL
Looking for ways to make this year feel extra special? Whether these serve as the gift themselves, or you add them to a purchased gift, there are lots of creative ideas that can add to the day. These are things you can do for your mom, daughter, grandma, or yourself!
- Have breakfast in bed: In this case, that means if you’re a mom, someone is making you breakfast in bed!
- Make a family photo album: Minted and Shutterfly are just two of the online services that you can upload photos to and create a photo gift, whether that’s an album, tee shirt, or tote bag.
- Handwrite a card: our family doesn’t traditionally purchase cards, we make them. Even if it’s just something handwritten on plain paper, sincere, heartfelt words can mean so much more than something printed in a store-bought card.
- Make her a playlist: Create a playlist for her on Spotify or another music streaming service. Or, if you still have a CD player, make a customized CD.
- Watch home movies: This is one of our favorite things to do, and it’s wonderful for children (grown or otherwise) to see how you interacted with them when they were young.
- Cook her favorite meal: In fact, I don’t think any mom should be cooking on Mother’s Day, unless she wants to!
- Plan a picnic: But you have to do everything – mom should just show up!
- Go for a family hike, walk or bike ride: One of my favorite Mother’s Days was when we drove up to Ojai, California and biked all around that beautiful setting. Followed by a nice lunch, it was the perfect day.
- Book something special: Whether you buy tickets to a concert, show, art class or something more pampering like a spa, it’s nice to treat her (or yourself) to something out of the ordinary.
