Creating a Simple and Neutral Fall Mantel
This simple and neutral fall mantel uses green and white pumpkins and greens from nature for a soft and simple take on the season!
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a huge fan of the oranges and rusts that are the traditional fall colors and I know a lot of you aren’t either. Instead, I wanted to create a neutral fall mantel using some of the colors I used in my fall home tour, but even softer.
I love the idea of using items from nature to convey a sense of the season. And I wanted the look to be a soft and simple version of fall. So I focused on greens and creams; using both green and white pumpkins and seeded eucalyptus. Eucalyptus is my absolute favorite green to add this time of year.
I love it’s casual, drapey look – and it’s inexpensive, as well as long lasting. What’s not to love about that?!
I started by layering several bunches of eucalyptus over the surface of the mantel. Usually buy mine at Trader Joe’s but many markets also carry it this time of year.
I then added white and green pumpkins and played around with the order until I was happy with it. It still looked a little sparse when all I had were large pumpkins, so I added some small white ones to balance it out and fill it in.
I’m so partial to white pumpkins! Aren’t they gorgeous?! I wrote a post on my love for white pumpkins last year – click here to get even more ideas on decorating with white pumpkins.
And I’m loving the sheaths of wheat! They tie in the green pumpkins so I used those on either end to give the whole mantelscape some height.
And there it is! A neutral fall mantel that is simple to pull together, and can easily last all season! For more neutral fall decorating, click here.
