There are so many things to love about Christmas – from the music, to the lights, to the tree, but I must say, one of my biggest loves, is holiday wreaths. They are such a welcoming sight hanging on a door; there is nothing that sends quite the same message! I love that they are old-fashioned, yet modern at the same time.
Friday Favorites – Natural Gift Wrap
I recently shared how I’ve been into more of a ‘neutral’ Christmas lately, even swapping out our stockings and leaving some of our brighter ornaments off of the tree this year. Now I want to take that concept a step further and do more of a natural style of wrapping gifts. There are so many beautiful ways to wrap a gift that don’t involve buying wrapping paper at Target or the local Hallmark store! More beautiful, I think. I guess I love the idea of “brown paper packages tied up with string” – both literally and figuratively.
Holiday Home Tour – Part II
Thank you to everyone who stopped by the first part of my Holiday Home Tour, I really appreciate all of you taking the time to visit! The reason I split my tour into two parts is that the two areas of my house are decorated so differently, they just didn’t seem to belong in the same post.
Holiday Home Tour – Part I
Today I am opening my doors and sharing my holiday home decor with you as part of the Holiday Home Tour hosted by The Avery Grace! I am one of eighteen bloggers and businesses asked to join and and I am so thrilled!
I absolutely love decorating for Christmas. Growing up I couldn’t wait for the season to start, and I was usually the one bringing out the bins from the attic and putting out the decor. Christmas has such warm memories for me, and part of my decorating is not only to celebrate the season, but also to hopefully create those same warm memories for my own children. Much of what I have is something we use over and over; ornaments and decor that we’ve used year after year. I love the traditions that the season brings, and the meaning that those traditions bring. So welcome to our home, and come on in!
Friday Favorites – Bottle Brush Trees
I have fallen in love with bottle brush trees. I know they’ve been around for awhile now, but I feel like this year they have exploded! And yes, I know that they’ve actually been around for longer than “awhile” – the vintage ones anyway. But the reproductions are a more recent thing and they seem to be everywhere now. I’ve seen them at TJ Maxx and Home Goods, as well as my local antique stores and some boutiques.
Simple Greens
For many years when I was younger and my husband and I were first married, I put out a lot of Christmas decor. I usually bought new items every year, and even worse, I started some sort of “collection” every few years as well! I had “Santa” collections, and “Snowman” collections, “Mr. and Mrs. Claus” collections… well, you get the picture. Then, about 10 years ago I decided all of it was just a little too busy. My tastes had changed. I was older, had had several children, and my taste had grown up (or I like to think so!) So I got rid of some of the collections, and things I wasn’t crazy about anymore and purchased some new items and changed things up a bit. Well, this year is like that year those many years ago – I feel a need to change up my Christmas decor! Not dramatically, just a little “refreshening.” The main thing I want to do is take all the red from the living room and dining room decor. I don’t have a lot as I’ve been weeding it out the past couple of years anyway, but there is still some. These rooms are slightly dressier than the family room/kitchen area, so I like the Christmas decor to be a little dressier as well. I’m looking for a natural mix; mostly greens, with some creams, tan, silver and gold in there as well. I love that this mix is a little more sophisticated, yet it still says Christmas.
