Patriotic Tablescape with Flags and Stars

Every year I bring out the red, white, and blue decorations right before Memorial Day, and I usually keep them out through July 4th. I treat the whole month as a “patriotic” season! Also, since we usually have people over for one or the other of these holidays, I wanted to put together a patriotic tablescape that could work for either one. I love doing tablescapes and I know a lot of you do, too, so I compiled a new free e-book with twelve of my favorites (including sources and lots of tips and tricks!)

I love the crispness of red, white and blue, and of course I want to honor the holiday, but I also didn’t want to go too overboard. So, I included a few flags, but not too many, and concentrated on the combination of colors. I may do something a little more decorated for the 4th, but for this weekend, I wanted to keep it simple. Perfect for Memorial Day, Labor Day or even just a summer bbq!

I started with the blue polka dot runner from Pottery Barn, and that set the tone for the whole table. As I mentioned, I wanted it to be festive for the holiday, but I wanted it to be simpler than something I might do for the Fourth of July.

I added red napkins, simple white plates, and my chicken wire chargers. I love these! Unfortunately, they are no longer available. They pop up occasionally on Ebay, but I’ve also linked an adorable galvanized metal option!

Some white kalanchoe in a simple galvanized metal planter with flags added formed my simple centerpiece.

This patriotic tablescape was easy to pull together, and I didn’t really need to buy much to round it out. Most of it I already owned, except I did grab the cute wooden stars in the dollar bins at Target. Those bins have such good finds!

I think the red, white, and blue, with just a few flags sets the tone for the holiday, and is the perfect patriotic tablescape for the weekend! And you could even re-use it for the Fourth of July by just adding a few more decorations!

  2. So glad you popped over Liz! I appreciate it! These were the only pieces I got from that line as I bought them much later off of Ebay – wish I would've bought the whole line when it was in the stores:)

Hope you have a nice Memorial Day weekend!

  4. Love all this! I have some of the Farmwire pieces from Pottery Barn too but I never bought the chargers. I have my red, white and blue out too and plan to do the same keeping it out through the 4th. I like that corrugated metal piece you used for the centerpiece. Visiting from Tablescape Thursday.
