This Pomegranate Gimlet is a festive-looking holiday cocktail that’s not only beautiful and easy to make, but it’s also delicious!

Most of the year I’m more of a wine drinker, but the holidays really call for a festive holiday cocktail don’t you think?! Because nothing elevates the evening more than serving something special and fun to your guests!

I knew I wanted to share something festive and beautiful with you, but I also wanted it to be a cocktail I really wanted to drink. Because let’s be honest, a lot of the holiday-themed cocktails out there are way too sweet or even downright un-drinkable. But I promise, this Pomegranate Gimlet is not only beautiful to look at and easy to make, but it’s also delicious!

If you’re not already familiar with a Gimlet, it’s a classic gin-based cocktail consisting of gin, lime juice, and simple syrup. It’s simple and yummy on it’s own, but the addition of pomegranate juice really takes it up a notch.

Not only does the pomegranate juice make it a beautiful color, but I love the tart-but-yummy flavor it adds as well!

And because it’s such a simple cocktail to make, it’s easy to make it ahead for a crowd. So whether you’re entertaining 2 or 20, it’s super easy to whip up a batch!

A traditional gimlet is made with gin, but there are Vodka Gimlets as well. And you can also make this drink with vodka if you prefer, but I really encourage you to try it with gin!

I was never a gin drinker until a few years ago and I’ve really grown to appreciate it. In this cocktail, the gin is the perfect combination with all the tart juices, and adds a depth of flavor that you don’t get with vodka.

Of course, either way, it will still taste delicious!

A gimlet is traditionally served in a chilled coupe or martini glass, and I chose my favorite coupe glasses for that reason. Plus, coupe glasses make me feel like I’m in a 1940’s movie! 😉

This Pomegranate Gimlet is delicious, festive, and so easy to make!

Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces gin
  • 2 ounces pomegranate juice
  • 2 ounces fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 1 ounce simple syrup (recipe below)*
  • Pomegranate seeds and sliced limes for garnish

Instructions

    1. At least one hour before serving, place glasses in the freezer to chill.

    2. Combine the gin, pomegranate juice, lime juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously for a full 15 seconds (you want it to be thoroughly chilled).

    4. Strain into the chilled martini glasses and garnish with a teaspoon of pomegranate seeds and a slice of lime, if desired.

**To make simple syrup, put equal parts sugar and water into a small saucepan and boil until the sugar dissolves (I usually do one cup of each so that I have some leftover). Cool completely before using.

Notes

Recommended gin is Hendrick's. The recipe can also be made with vodka, if desired.

Recommended pomegranate juice is Pom Wonderful.
