This year’s simple fall decorating in the living room features pale pumpkins and faded rusts and greens to create a subtle autumn color palette.
Fall. The season of cozy. And probably my favorite!
I mean, who doesn’t like cozy pillows and throws, falling leaves, and yummy soups and pumpkin lattes? There is such a special feeling in this season. It’s the start of football. And school. And of course, sweater and boot weather!
(Well, not quite yet here, but I’m hopeful! 😉 )
Every year, I’m excited to start my fall decorating. Last week I started with the kitchen and finished the mantel, and this week, I’m continuing with a complete tour of the living and dining rooms all decked out for the season!
Of course, I say ‘all decked out’ but as is typical, both rooms are full of simple fall decorating ideas. I love to decorate for the season, but I’m not one to go too crazy. 😉
My subtle autumn palette consists of pale greens, faded rusts, leaves and branches, and seasonal florals.
If you saw my mantel decor last week, then you know I’m going for a slightly muted take on traditional fall colors.
Cream textured linen, combined with brown and faded moss green velvet pillows create a pretty palette on the sofa.
On the coffee table I frequently have flowers, but this year I changed it up with faux olive branches. I’ve wanted some olive branches for awhile now, and I love how real these look! They’re in a rustic white vase creating a vignette with a copper votive and a pale green Jarrahdale pumpkin.
The ‘Gather’ pillow is an old favorite from Pottery Barn. But it’s still around on Ebay! I found some here, here, and here. I linked a few more similar options below. I love the message of gratefulness that the season brings!
And of course, I had to add some seasonal florals somewhere! This year I created a floral arrangement with white hydrangeas and fall florals on the console table. Combined with my favorite brass candlesticks, this simple vignette says fall in a natural way.
In the dining room, I piled up some baby boos and white Casper pumpkins in a white marble bowl for a simple but strong statement on the dining table.
On the sideboard, a chunky basket sits with some faux oak leaf branches and more brass candleholders. Brass is one of my favorite elements to add in the fall!
I hope this gave you some inspiration for simple fall decorating in your own home!
With a few pumpkins, some branches (faux or live), and maybe a cozy fall pillow or two, you can create a subtle but beautiful nod to the season with very little effort!

Hi and thank you Annette! Those are actually brass, and they’re vintage. I got them at an antique store.
