Simple Early Spring Decorating in the Kitchen
Okay, I know I said I like winter. And I said I like rain. And I do. Except when it’s been weeks and weeks of it!
But this week we finally got some sun – and it felt so good! It’s still cold, but at least the grey skies are gone for now (though an Alaskan storm is supposed to bring snow this week – snow!!) If you’re anything like me, you’re ready for spring to arrive, so today I’m sharing some simple spring decorating in the kitchen.
It might be a little early. Then again, maybe not. It feels pretty good to dream of flowers, fresh breezes, and windows-open kinda weather! The flowers have certainly brightened my kitchen (and my mood!), and this little bit of spring decor has me anxious to lighten up my decor and start planning my garden. I didn’t go too crazy – just a nod to the season and the warm days to come.
Maybe this will make it come faster?!
Citrus really starts its season in the winter, but lemons somehow always say ‘spring’ to me. And I love lemons! Anything from lemon scented soap (this is my favorite!) to lemon bars – I’ll take it all!
I’m loving this flower basket for spring. I filled it with white hydrangeas and eucalyptus. I also brought out just a few little eggs (I won’t do any more until it’s closer to Easter, but I couldn’t resist!)
For lots more ideas on decorating with flowers year-round, check out my How to Decorate with Flowers post!
Some white flowers in the dining room add more cheer, and I love that I can see them from the kitchen.
For me, simple spring decorating is as easy as some white flowers, some citrus, and a cute new towel to cheer up your space. You don’t need to go crazy to give your kitchen a fresh feeling – at least until the real spring arrives! I bought this towel at Sur la Table last year, but they have an equally cute one again this year!
So here’s to everyone thawing out sooner rather than later! And to those warm breezes and open windows. I’ll be dreaming of those when I’m sitting by the fire this week during our Alaskan storm!

Your little freshening up really does brighten up the winter day! We got lots of snow in the wee hours of the morning –
but even though I love spring, I don’t wish winter away. I still love it (now that I don’t need to drive to work in it, haha.)
Thank you for all your links – wondering where you found that perfectly awesome tall basket you used?
Hi Michele, and thank you so much for your kind words! The tall basket was from Sur la Table last summer. I’ve looked and looked and haven’t found anything similar to link for you. So sorry! But let me know if you find anything, and I will keep looking.
Thanks for stopping by!

Lemons are perfect accessories. Since prime time for citrus is winter I like citrus now , spring and summer. Perfect for me with cooking always right there
Cindy
I couldn’t agree more! They just freshen up anything they are around – be it a recipe or a room! And the scent is heavenly, too!

Sheila, everything is so lovely. Did you make the slipcovers on your Parason’s chairs? I need to get some and really don’t want to sew them. Have a good day and take care.
Hi and thank you Cecilia! I didn’t make them, they are from Ballard Designs. However, after I bought them I found much more reasonably priced ones at Pottery Barn!! I’m sending a link below in case you want to check them out. Hope that helps!
