Simple Summer Kitchen Tour in Shades of Blue
Hi and happy Wednesday! Today I’m excited to be joining a fun summer home tour hosted by Krista of The Happy Housie. If you’re coming here from my friend Jamie’s, welcome! She has such fabulous French vintage style!
As I shared in my living room tour a couple of weeks ago, summer has a special place in my heart. That feeling of less responsibility, long hours of daylight, and lazy afternoons takes me back to my childhood and simpler times. And Krista’s Seasonal Simplicity Summer tour is a celebration of just that, which I love!
Summer is simply too hot and too fun to be worrying too much about decorating! But you can celebrate the season beautifully. Whether it’s bringing in some bright colors, setting out some fresh flowers, or simply changing slipcovers, there are ways to bring in seasonal beauty without too much fuss. I’m all about keeping things simple and enjoying the season. And for me, that means spending more time with my family now that the kids are home more often!
So grab an iced tea (or coffee), and come on into my summer kitchen tour….
Blue is my color of choice this summer. It really conveys that summery feeling to me, and I love how crisp and fresh it feels!
If you are a regular reader, then this area probably looks slightly different than when you last saw it! I’ve changed out the previous table to this “new to me” antique table, and I love the change so much!
You can read all about the details of where we got the table in my Breakfast Area Refresh post. And the chairs were an easy find at World Market.
Some simple fresh flowers on the table freshen up the whole space.
Here’s a peek from the kitchen into the dining room, which has also had some blue accessories added!
I brought a lot of blue into the living and dining rooms for summer, so I wanted to continue that look in here to keep it cohesive.
The simple blue and white runner was a lucky find at Home Goods last year. But I also own this one which I love, and this and this are very similar.
I recently bought this French enamelware pitcher. After seeing it at a local antique store for over $200 (and falling hopelessly in love but not wanting to pay that much) I found it on Etsy!
I’m usually a white hydrangea kind of girl, but with all my blue accents, I decided to add some faded blue hydrangeas to the kitchen instead. These cute blue and white plates and bowls also bring a little summer to the kitchen!
Thank you so much for taking my summer kitchen tour!
I hope you’ll go on to visit Norma at Paint me Pink, and then onto the other eight bloggers sharing today. And don’t forget to check out some of the other days as well – there are over 30 bloggers sharing their seasonal simplicity this week!
Happy Summer!

Sheila,
Oh, my. . .love the subtle hues of blue with white in your Summer Kitchen Tour!
The tray behind the plate reminds me that I have similar trays in the lower level
Family Room. I love the added texture they bring to our otherwise hard surfaces!
Thank you for such inspiring photos of your lovely home!
Pat

The blue and white is so fresh and uplifting on this dreary Georgia morning. I have started picking up glass domes that are for cheese boards and using them on little pedestal servers. I am having fun playing with them and like how you have used them too. Also, did you paint your dining chairs or were they that finish when you bought them? I have a set of 6 beautiful chairs my Aunt passed to me from France and need to freshen the wood with a new look. I really like the subtle tones in your chairs. Have a great weekend and don’t work too hard painting your bedroom for the ORC!! Can’t wait to see the reveal!!
Good morning Cecilia! I’m so glad you love the blue and white – I also find it so cheerful and refreshing!
My dining chairs were purchased this way. It looks to me like someone did a light white wash over the original paint. Ironically, I need to redo them!! They are uneven and weren’t done all that well. I’m going to chalk paint them, but will probably water down the paint a bit so it is a lighter look. You could try that too!
Thanks for the kind words – and happy Friday!
