You know how sometimes you just fall in love with something, even something that you passed right by only a few years ago? That is how my love affair with copper is. I am crushing on it… hard. So in love that I’m looking for more vintage pieces to buy – I seriously can’t get enough! Which is funny, because about five years ago I had the chance to buy a copper tea kettle at a fantastic price, and I turned it down! Of course today, I’d be snatching that up as quickly as possible!
For many years, I wanted an antique crystal chandelier in either my dining room and/or entry way. I shopped flea markets and antiques stores, and even Ebay and 1st Dibs, and I kept coming up short. It was hard to find the right size, and of course, the right price! And then, naturally, life would get busy and I’d stop looking. (I never understand people who are such fast decorators! This is definitely not me!) As a result, many years went by with no decent chandelier in either space.
Today marks the beginning of spring break for my kids, with spring weather arriving this week, right on time! For some reason, even though I haven’t been in school in years, the school schedule is still the thing that defines the seasons for me. It doesn’t truly feel like spring until spring vacation. Either way, I am so happy to have a little sun and some open windows after weeks of cold and rainy weather!
Hi and Happy Best-Day-of-the-Week! Today is even better than usual for me as today my daughter is coming home for spring break! Nothing makes my heart happier than when everyone is back home and under the same roof 🙂
We’re back with another French Country Fridays, your source for all kinds of French-ish inspiration! I would say this week has a little bit of everything; antiques, kitchen design, a few tablescapes, and some decor!
Happy Friday, and welcome to another French Country Fridays where we celebrate all things French-ish! I am so thrilled at the response we’ve had to this series! Looks like you all love French inspiration as much as we do 🙂
For me, my love of French Country or French Farmhouse style really lies in the casual spirit of it. It mixes old and new, elegant and casual, in an offhand way that I just love. This style values patina and age, so that things that are chipped or scratched are not only still used, but still loved. Good thing, since much of my furniture is pretty distressed from real life with three kids! My “casual chic” aesthetic really stems from this. The mix of a crystal chandelier with a rusted bucket. Or a chippy table holding a silver candlestick. That mix is what really makes my heart skip a beat!
Happy Friday all! Hope your week has been going well. Today is my absolute favorite day of the week! Not only because at our house we always do homemade pizza and movie night on Fridays, but also because it’s French Country Fridays here on Maison de Cinq!
